This Knicks team had no business competing with that Celtics team with multiple Hall of Famers. Bernard King was Superman.

He was the best player we had since the 70s. At least in terms of peak.

Bernard King could give it to you from anywhere on the court and he had the quickest release of the basketball I've ever seen in my life

In a losing effort, Larry Bird won this one-on-one matchup in rebounding, passing, and defense. He nearly had a triple double as well. He also nearly generated half of the Celtic's points, as he scored 35 points, and he passed 7 times for at least another 14 points.

Great upload. 12:11 Larry Bird gets punched right in the head on purpose and Bird just gets right up and doesn't complain or cause any drama. There was maybe a 1 minute stoppage to figure out the foul. We all know now it would be a 15 minute review with a bunch of added drama.

I beg to differ. Especially when you know bird teammates can do the same and not get ejected as easily yet other teams will get called quicker. So yes with this setup of course Bird doesn't have to go to the refs. Especially when the refs go to him and the Celtics on their own.

Real talk. How successful would Magic and Bird be without the Lakers and Celtics? For an example imagine Earvin Johnson Jr. on the Jazz instead of the Lakers.

@@JamesHardenoverKobe real talk. Bird was a rookie when he won 61 games with the Celtics. The Celtics won 29 games the year before Bird got there. NO Parish, Mchale, Ainge, Johnson or Walton.. He won it all his second year with a newly acquired Robert Parish and a ROOKIE Kevin Mchale. When he got injured late in the 80s and couldnt play anymore, the Celtics stopped winning. They STILL had Parish, Mchale, Ainge, Walton, Johnson, at that point.. Bird would be successful ANYWHERE. cant say the same WITHOUT him. check your facts again.

@@soramirez5473 Most people don't realize The Celtics (Bird era) doesn't have a winning record in the playoffs vs the Pistons, 76ers, and The Lakers. They lost to the 76ers in 80 and 82. They lost to The Lakers in 85 and 87. That's what surrounds Larry 81 and 86 finals. Bird didn't even win FMVP in both because he has two 8 pt final games. So not only does Bird not have a winning record in the playoffs against The Pistons, 76ers, and Lakers. They couldn't even beat a shorthanded team without resorting to dirty tactics in 1986. Funny to hear Celtics fans call 1986 the greatest Celtics of all time. Yet they needed to resort to a dirty tactic against a team that had only two stars and no starting point guard.

Bernard was every bit just as good if not a little bit better than Larry Bird I don't care what anybody says and you have to remember he was the whole damn team here how many other all stars does Larry Bird have playing around him at least three or four

I’m a NYC dude and a huge BKing fan. But he wasn’t as good as Bird. Nobody was. Bird was an all around player rebs, ast, stl etc. And was a dominant scorer. Bernard could fill it up from all angles and was a scoring machine for those few years with the Knicks but didn’t have the all around game Bird did.
