Geez---AMAZING at how many wonderful reminiscences there are here for this great old song! I've always loved it and remember it well from my youth....but it seems I may be the only "kid" here who remembers it being played very often on a kids' show aired out of New York City in the very early 60's and maybe late 50's hosted by a wonderfully weird guy named Sandy Becker. Sandy (if I am remembering this correctly) had a character he played called Norton Nork and my memory tells me that Afrikaan Beat was Norton's theme song---or something like that. Anyway, GREAT song!
