I visited Bojnurd, the provincial capital of North Khorasan, Iran in April 2024.
This video is of the historical Besh Qardash Park. The term "Besh Qardash" means "five brothers" in the local Khorasan Turkish language of the region. This is related to the mythical history of this place. According to the myth, five brothers fought against the cruel government of the time, and when they landed on the mountainside, they disappeared and five springs of water gushed out. During the Qajar era, Naser al-Din Shah passed by the site during his state visit and ordered Yar Mohammad Khan Shadlou to build a monument next to the springs.
This visit is part of my retirement project to photograph a day in the life of The Silk Road.
