I did use thinner for the Liquitex tube paint that I got, but what I did was after mixing with my brush, I funneled it into a dropper bottle with two ball bearings, and then I slapped that down on my vortex mixer and just let it rattle the bottle a while at different angles to try and smooth it all out. I was able to use the paint through the brush, but it would definitely require more than 3 coats for titanium white to get good coverage.

I’m not a good painter and started with speed paints. After a while, I wanted my miniatures to pop, so I went to the craft store to find some acrylics. Folk Art was the first brand I saw, so I just bought it without looking at the others, plus it was cheap. If I would have bought any other brand, I would have probably stopped acrylics immediately. However, I was amazed at how much coverage these had. Thank you for doing this to show how dominant this brand is.

As somebody new to the hobby and on a tight budget, information like this is super helpful…thanks! I’m not printing and painting my models for a competition, they’re just for my personal enjoyment…so saving money is slightly more important than stellar results. I’ve been using craft paints for several months using a brush to apply; however, I have a few models that I feel would benefit greatly from using an airbrush. So, I’m taking the plunge into the deep end and ordering my first airbrush! This is going to put even more pressure on my budget, so now I really need to stick to the craft paints. 😉

Great I’m glad you found it helpful. If you want my advise. I’d just crack it open and start using it. Your gunna mess up and that’s part of the learning process. Some of the best things that I have learned have been through a failure I’m a strong advocate on learning from your mistakes. but if you watch some of my other videos, you should be better prepared than I was when I first started. Best of luck on using your Airbrush.

super informative, im always making model rc cars and looking for the best durability since they are rock crawlers and go through a lot of abuse. what i found for some reason these cheap craft paints seem to be the strongest along with tamiya paints, i tried every brand imaginable and most of the model paints even the fancier ones like vallejo mecha dont seem to be as durable. my recipe in the end tended to be a polyurethane primer, followed by craft paints or tamiya and at the end an epoxy clear coat and its nearly indestructible

I have found using craft paint labeled multi surface works best. I also use a filter, but never put anything down the drain, better in the garbage dry. Also, at least 3 very thin coats makes for a smoother finish, and cleaning tip every couple minutes then thoroughly cleaning brush right away after painting

First, I just wanna say thank you I’m glad my videos help you. I put a lot of work into breaking them down so anyone can do it. When it comes to Airbrush is I started with a Master Air brand Airbrush. It came in a kit with a compressor as well. I honestly liked learning how to airbrush on a cheaper one so when I messed it up I wasn’t too upset and then once I got used to how to use an airbrush I bought a better one. And I just kept buying better ones and I think I’ve got quite a collection of Airbrush is now.😂. but here are a couple really good brands if you decide to just get a nice Airbrush instead of a cheap one to learn Badger 105 Patriot (what are used in the video) Iwata brand is a good brand too. Best of luck. I also have a free Discord you could join if you have more questions feel free to join that and I can get back to you with anything you may have issues with or have questions.

Thanks for the info.👍 Just bought several bottles of FolkArt brand paint at Michael's to use on some 3D resin prints. Do you have a recommendation for a transparent coating to seal the paint job when I'm done? (Flat and Gloss finishes.)

Plaid is the manufacturer of Apple Barrel, Folk Art, and Ceramcoat. Folk Art is their "Premium" formula, so it's not terribly surprising to see Folk Art take the W over Apple Barrel and Ceramcoat lines.

I use my craft paints a lot for painting 3D prints and models a lot. The two keys to getting good results is you have to thin them down a little (not as much as airbrush) and apply thin coats. Best of luck with your projects and thanks for the sub!

Some filaments don’t adhere well. And you need to spray it with either a rattle can primer or a airbrush primer. Then paint over that.

@@ItsMeaDMaDe is there any replacements for primers or how to make normal paints into primers because ther are expensive
@ItsMeaDMaDe

The cheapest method is rattle can. amzn.to/3SN6e6e Primers are made of a different composition that adheres easier to models. The other alternative is wash your print with dial soap to clean the plastic. That may help. Just make sure it’s dry before you start painting again

when i have adhesion issues i use Dupli-Color CP199 Clear Adhesion Promoter Primer, it will help a bunch, nothing is going to stop acrylic paint from being scratched off unless you clear coat it after.
