How refreshing. This is by far the best review on the Ninebot ES2! Its in English, hits the points I wanted and not done by some scantily clad dressed woman. Anyhow, I think the ES2 will fit my needs perfectly, well in directly. I'm thinking about buying one for our son to ride back and forth from the bus stop during school days. Its only a few miles away and on a hill. Thats why I'm looking at an electric vs manual, our old house was easy riding manual scooters and bikes. I think he will enjoy the ride home a lot more with an electric.

@AndyKow

Travels as in taking it on a holiday? Locally if you ride it from your home to the train station that should be okay. Speed at 20-25kmh is just nice, but once you are used to it i would say 30-40kmh is just nice.

We've had the ninebot es2 in my country since Feb 2018 and our users group has found dozens of issues. 1. Mainboard issues (slower speed when headlight is on), 2. Broken fenders (some as early as 2 weeks from purchase). 3. misaligned handlebars/front hub out of box and loose screws. but the WORSE issue is that you can NOT buy tires only. When you wear out the tire, you have to buy an entire rim+tire and the front tire requires includes a HUB. That's expensive and not eco-friendly. I'm sorry but we consider this unit a nightmare and resorted to recommending the mijia + solid tires if they hate flats. We can fix those easily.

I just bought an ES4 on Ebay, and from my research online the ES4 is basically just an ES2 with extended battery. However, the ES4 that I received has "matte black" steering column ( so pretty much all black) compared to many ES2 review videos I saw are all silver (like yours). It is not an ES1 with external battery for sure because mine does have rear suspension. I am kind of confused why my ES4's color is different than others.
@AndyKow
5 жыл бұрын
Does your unit show it as Segway or Ninebot? I was told and there are written reviews where Segway produces them in the matte black and name the model ES4 while ninebot is silver ES3. www.envyride.com/segway-ninebot-electric-scooter-comparison/

Great video! Is it possible to create a follow up video to this, talking about if you've had any problems etc. I'm seriosuly thinking about purchasing one however I've seen very mixed reviews. From what I can see people either love them and find them great or have nothing but issues with them and therefore find them terrible. If not a video a comment reply back ? I just really don't wanna make a purchasing mistake and feel I could trust your follow up

Thanks for watching Charlie. I only had the unit for a couple of days for review. I did use it as much as possible going everywhere i could with it. Fortunately it didn't rain when i did use it, i managed to try it out on slightly wet tarmac and no problems after that. Before you purchase make sure you can get support for the unit wherever you are, just in case you have any issue, then you can get help from the company. There will be mixed reviews I am sure. Like any product there will be unlucky users who will have issues and some who just hate it cause of it didn't perform. It worked for me, if I did buy the unit I would get it and the extended battery. So make sure you have support before buying cause after sales is the most important after purchasing.

Does this have solid wheels and is it anti-slip? Does it work well in rain? (apart from the manual saying don't use it in rain and the low IP rating)
@AndyKow

These are solid wheels. They are grippy enough if you are on tarmac, but on smooth cemented floors, they can become slippery. Best not to use it during heavy downpour and really really wet roads.

Can you just ride it like a normal scooter if the battery runs out? or is the resistance in the motor to much.
@AndyKow

mad-_-observer resistance is there but not much. Still allows you to kick and ride.

I ordered an ES2 from banggood and they said it is version 1.3 -- anyone know what the big differences are? For one, I notice it is all black instead of silver/black.
@AndyKow

Hey William, from what i found out. The ES1 and ES2 have similar build, except for the color ES1 is Black and ES2 is Silver. Top speed ES1 - 20km/h or 12.4mph Top speed ES2 - 25km/h or 15.5mph Output ES1 - 250W Output ES2 - 300W I think apart from the speed and distance, there shouldn't be other differences. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I was more referring to the build versions as apposed to ES1 -vs- ES2. Current build for ES2 model is V1.3 because from V1 to V1.3 they have worked out problems with the unit. Hope that makes sense 👍

How do you keep the scooter secure? I'm planning on getting one for college and I'm worried about it getting stolen!
@AndyKow
6 жыл бұрын
itsjanehorner there isn't any physical lock or anything standard that keeps the scooter from being carried away except for the lock feature which can be activated through the mobile app. So this unit is best to be kept in a secure area or nearby. Not to be left alone or locked somewhere public. They should implement that in future upgrades.

Why not make the scooter itself the lock. Fold it around a pole or something.

is it wateproof?
@AndyKow

Hey Livio. It's not waterproof. More like water resistant. So if you're riding over a small puddle, then it's okay. But if it's heavy rain and constantly wet, don't think it will survive long.

You are not carrying the scooter right! You should use it as a suitcase and drive it on it's front wheel using the handle to move it. That's way it's a lot more comfortable to carry.
@AndyKow
5 жыл бұрын
Indeed I agree with you! But I was just showing it for those times you can't do both and the only choice is to carry the unit.

@@AndyKow ohh, In that case you absolutely right, it is quite heavy to carry on with your hands. Anyway, thanks for the video I found it as the best review of this Escooter across KZitem and I bought my own after seeing the video!

Any opinion as to whether the ES2 makes more sense to buy than the ES1?
@Scolopente
6 жыл бұрын
Charles I have both. Get the ES2. Better build, better top speed, back light, and better suspension!
@AndyKow
6 жыл бұрын
Hey Charles. Yes i agree with Scolopente, get the ES2 if you can. I had a short ride with the ES1 and honestly i didn't really feel any major difference between the two. But the ES2 is a better buy with all the additional features.

Thanks, I ended up getting 2 of the ES2s; very happy with them so far; approximately 70 miles on one of them already.
