Ralph commending Tenet that much really is a surprise to me. I originally wasn't a fan of this film due to its bloated and exposition reliant dialogue and storytelling, and I wasn't even a fan of its cinematography or sound design either which he compliments immensely. But, after Ralph described this film, I reflect upon Tenet and realise that a lot of the elements of this film were fantastic, and makes me reflect upon Nolan as an excellent filmmaker too. I must respect Nolan's artistic integrity and brilliance at such a blockbuster level of popularity, and I can only give him the respect he deserves by rewatching Tenet and re-evaluating it. Thanks to Ralph, I'm super intrigued to return to it once more. Thank you for also giving Nolan and Fincher the love they deserve, too; it frustrates me how many pretentious film nerds hate on these two filmmakers nowadays, so to see a film nerd complimenting these two directors and giving them the love they deserve really satisfies me!

I was utterly confused until I saw the method of how they reverse time, and watched people actually using it, at which point I understood how it all worked. The only thing that confused me was the exact timeline(s) on how Robert Pattinson made it to where he is at the end of the climax. I've not rewatched it, so maybe that will be more understandable next time. I just didn't understand the hate it got.

I wouldn't necessarily say if you like David Fincher, you'll like Mank, but if you like Citizen Kane, you'll love this movie. The story beats are VERY parallel to how Citizen Kane's story is unfolded. As soon as that clicked for me, I immediately started loving the movie even more, because I then knew exactly how the story would begin to flow and eventually end, which was very satisfying. Jack Fincher did a incredible job, turning this script into a biopic to a full on love letter to Citizen Kane film. You can tell how much admiration he had for it's screenplay

Crazy how divisive Nomadland is, it's an either you love it or you hate it film, which I always find pretty interesting. I adored it, particularly the emotions of the characters and how little the film chooses to fully express them. Similar to real life, you just ~feel~ how others are feeling instead of them openingly telling you. Also, like in real life, there's no blatant "plot", and the movie just follows our character throughout their journeys. I was super emotionally invested and was the only movie I shed tears for that year.

Another disappointing video. If you’re going to make a list where the vast majority of your discussion of these films boils down to either a single sentence or a simple numerical score, don’t make the video at all. There is zero value in that and it’s just annoying to watch. The most in-depth discussion you had was about Tenet and even that was heavy on repeated talking points where you could have said what you needed to say in half the time. I enjoy your content because you bring a unique perspective to the films and media you talk about, that’s why it’s disappointing to have a shitty list that boils down to “I liked these few specific things” or “I disliked these few specific things” or “it’s a 2/10.” There really is no value in that. Please put more thought into your videos or take more time off because it doesn’t seem like you’re putting that much effort into this especially if you compare your part 2 of the SPFG video to the first one. You don’t owe me or anyone anything, I just hope you can realize that you shouldn’t feel obligated to put out lazy videos for the sake of putting them out. Take time off and relax man.

at points i thought the main character of Tenet was doing a Denzel Washington impression, and then somebody told me he's his son. And that made the movie much better for me lol

Didn't t even include Bill and Ted. I think the only movie I seen in theaters last year, yes it was dumb but it was light hearted and somehow me and the whole family laughed throughout it. It brought our spirits up in a dark time.

Great job Ralph, although you missed a couple great films from 2020: Shiva Baby, Mangrove (and maybe the entire Small Axe Series), Feels Good Man, The Wolf of Snow Hollow, Relic, Crip Camp, and Fireball.

The further down the list Ralph goes, the less he explains his thoughts on the movies he is reviewing, and it becomes very frustrating, when I can give equally adequate reviews without even having to see the films he mentioned.
