Thank you and it was one of the most comprehensive lessons I see on KZitem regarding subject matters. So I'm thinking shooting in 16:9 (1.8) aspect by default, leave some space on both side of the long end will work. Just a lazy man thinking.

When I got my first DSLR I didn't know anything about them. I began watching KZitem videos to learn what I could. Many photographers said to fill the frame. They never mentioned aspect ratios or printing. It wasn't until I went to Wal-Mart to print an 11x14 and an 8x10 that I learned a valuable lesson. Do not fill the frame unless you plan to use that aspect ratio when you print.

Not everybody lives in the U.S. Shouldn’t neglect A4 and A3. I shoot 1:1, use only 1 lens and leave lots of space for cropping. Modern cameras have such high resolution loss of detail is not an issue.

Content is good but video and audio are are to watch & listen. Too much popping noises and video is really really choppy.

I shoot still photographic images with the following aspect ratios: 1:1 (once my personal favorite for general subjects) 6:7 (my current personal favorite for general subjects) 4:5 (good for general subjects) 3:4 (good for general subjects) 2:3 (my favorite landscape aspect ratio) 1:2 (good for landscape or scenic panorama) 1:2.5 (good for landscape or scenic panorama) 1:3 (good for landscape or scenic panorama)

Like most I've heard, "Fill the frame. " I learned early on that unless I knew what my final print size was going to be, that didn't make much practical sense. So I've always left extra space and decided in post what my print crop size would be. Many times I could print in multiple aspect ratios with out losing anything. Thanks for the nice video.

I think it's an important part of composition too. Many images do no work well as 3:2, I find most of the time they work better either wider, narrower or even square.

Good video. Question, if 3:2 is the most popular format ratio, then print shops should have more size options that match the 3:2 aspect ration. This way we don't have to crop photos as much.

Just found your video. Had the same issue when I went to print photos at Cosco. So when I looked at the available aspect ratios on my camera, I had full, 1.6, 1:1, 4:3 and 16:9. Should I be using full and just leave room around my subjects to crop?
@CharlesCabrera

Yes use full and can't go wrong leaving room in case you need to crop

@CharlesCabrera

If you know in advance what size they what then set your camera to that aspect ratio. Otherwise shooting at 3:2 with extra space around your subject will prepare you in case of cropping.

Hi, if you know you are shooting for Instagram you can set your camera to 1:1 aspect ratio. Instagram will also display well with a 4:5 aspect ratio. You will probably need to crop to that aspect ratio. In any case, the best way to get the best results is to leave room around your subject when you take your photo. Hope this helps.
