I just found your channel today and I am so happy I did. These are some great picks and you talked about them so enthusiastically that they are all now on my TBR for 2021. In fact, I just added Unapologetic and Axiom's End to my cart on AbeBooks and I'll probably be buying the rest later in the year (other than The Outsiders which I have). Also, I just want to say Kindred was probably my favorite read of 2020. It was so heartrending and will be a reread for me in 2021. Great picks and great video!

loved this list! again, I'm marking "Unapologetic" and also "The Color of Law" as potential books to buy! Both sound incredibly insightful and educational! funnily enough, I was lowkey surprised to see Lindsey's book on this list?? Maybe I completely mis-remember your review but I thought you just found it okay :D turns out I was wrong! but it's true that you've mentioned it favourably in more recent videos of yours. :D I'm still not sold on Sci-Fi ... but when I jump into it, it will definitely be with Butler! Still hyped for "Bloodchild". :D

Found your channel through your Axiom's End review because I was hunting around to see who else was reading it! 😊Hadn't heard of Colour of Law before watching your video but it seems like such important and informative reading, definitely going on my list of books to check out!

I had a Top 7 this year. Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert, Little Constructions by Anna Burns, Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi, Bright Dead Things by Ada Limón, Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart, The Five by Hallie Rubenhold and Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison. You are absolutely right about The Outsider movie. The book had already destroyed me, but when I saw it on screen, I was a sobbing mess.

I am looking forward to Tuth of the Divine as well. My best reads were Axiom's End and Crooked Kingdom... but 2020 wasn't a good reading year for me, I read surprisingly little considering the fact that most of the year was spent in various degrees of lockdown.

By the way... as you said, we should sync up our rereading of Axiom's End as well as our reading of truth of the divine

Listen we all get a pass in 2020 lol and for sure! I was leaning towards September for the reread, if that works for you?

@@HeyItsShey September for the reread works! Judging from the fact that I finished in a day the first time I think a leisurely reread won't take that long lol.

Homey Don't Play That! sounds really fascinating. I've never delved into the history of Black comedy before.

Ah, I like the idea of Range but am afraid it will feel pander-y...a sop. The stories might be worth it though. 🙃I started with reading Renaissance Soul, which is clearly more self-help genre, but ... hmm... will keep it on my side view. :P
