Love my crook got both crook and the rotorious fpv speck. Got to say thou that I do prefer the speck a bit more being more compact. Having a hard time going back too the cheap frames such as the qx series after trying the rotorious fpv frames. If you don't mind the extra weight you can put the jst cable from the motor tru the hole in the arm. Also I would recommend to build with the motor mounts under the arm. That way you push the motor true the hole down into the motor mount. You will get a lower point of gravity and less props in the view.

+Linus Forss makes more sense to me to have the motor mounts on top. I have a lot of x frames so don't mind props in shot. CG is perfect as u can see by upside down hangs :-) won't be changing it when the motors are 22 quid a pop. Protects them much better

I just noticed that you actually placed the motor mounts on top, instead of on the bottom like in all the other builds I have seen. Was that deliberate - will it change flight characteristics?

At the time I ordered the Crook 110 frame was out of stock, so I went for the Speck 80 frame rotoriousfpv.com/product/speck-80/ I finally got it up and flying (my first working mini quad build :D ) I have only 1 set of good props though which are smaller than recommended because of the smaller frame. I can't remember where I found them. But I ordered several that don't fit tightly on the motors. So I'm looking for a good source of 55 mm props that will fit (tightly!) the motors recommended above.

Might reduce the vibration if you mount the motors by screwing the mounts under the arms. Base mounting them will increase vibration.

good vid, thx for sharing. BTW my tip to you, I'm fairly fresh in the realm of fpv mini multirotor but I have a tonne of LOS experience. I n my opinion the best way to get comfortable in LOS is by taking a large non-X frame (either a very strong one or my personal preference: a cheap, simple, modular frame that is easy to assemble and hotswap parts on a field) and fit it with the brightest LEDs you can find. Essential is a generous surface of clear white headlight! this combination will increase your sight range enormously making your training playground huge, thus allowing you to take all the space (and height) you need as you try new tricks for the first time. The biggest risk of LOS flights with multicopters (far more than planes, wings or heli's) is an interuption in direct line of sight for whatever reason (can be as little as a quick turn of the head to see your button or a split second of flying past an object in between you and your drone). With an x frame it is impossible to rely on the silouette you see at a distance for assesment that your sense of orientation translation has not changed from the last moment you had eyes on it. I fly my smaller LOS copters (250-350) at range of 300-400m radius around me in broad daylight by making use of those main features. Mine are all K-shape designs so by it's shape i can instantly see what 4 out of 6 orbit axis are when close enough. Being upside down is usually noticed by fast descend but you can mistake front for back very quickly, When you do, its like your controls are suddenly inversed and many fail to recover from that before losing control completely. Even at large distance, you have very distinct confirmation that the drone is coming towards you or flying further away by the headlight. For additional indications I also use various colored lights on the underside of the front arms and the top side of the rear ams. that help me a lot when I exit a +1000 deg corkscrew tumble or stuff like that. With that setup i can tell top from bottom, front from back, as well as left from right. Hope this turns out useful to you or anyone else that wants to learn LOS acro. P.s. I often see that people tend to forget the fact that flying LOS is entirely unrelated to FPV racing. Keep in mind that you have no laptimes to beat, nobody is overtaking you, and speed and power are not your main concern when you fly LOS. If you run 6" dualblades with 2000-2300kv off 3S 2200mah 50C on a 260 size drone, you can easily carry stuff like Lights or even GPS panicbutton failsafe.. If i run that on 4S 1800mah 65C, i have to be full focus in order to handle full throttle chaos for 8 minutes straight... good luck, take care, cheers

Hi Andy. Whenever I arm this quad the motors start at a high speed. The throttle does have an effect: it just goes from high to higher. I've flashed to betaflight. As recommended, I've set the motors to Brushed. The center value is 1500, motor idle is 1024, max throttle is 2000 and min is 1000. When I arm the quadcopter I see the throttle received value is 1007 (the min value) and the motors take off like it's 1500. The receiver page shows the min throttle is 1007, and max is 2027. On the motor test page, when I move the slider to 1024 the motors are moving at a very slow rate. Any ideas why my motors would be going so fast on min throttle?

A little bit of blu tack Andy would help you out a lot, stick the frame down with it before you start soldering to stop the frame moving around. Would this board work with a dx5e spectrum? My eye is on the F3 EVO FC as I think that does, the lighter weight of this one your using is a nice bonus. PS. I just checked and it appears I will need the board I mentioned lol, I should just buy the Taranis and be done with it lol.

Actually I bought different spare frames for my qx95 I already crushed one frame but so far I am quite pleased with it. Most of the components are similar or the same so why shouldt I try different frames with the parts on my qx95 :) actually it is much better than I expected. Only issues I have are with the propellers, and the transmitter antenna and of course the camera but 200 mw spare costs only 17 dollars. As propellers I have 65 mm ones now which are totally better than the tiny original ones but I want to try the 3 bladed ones too. It is fun to fly, you cant harm anybody with a micro quad and they fly like a champ.

It is fucking insane. about 6 mins flight time even if you just push it like crazy for the whole flight cause the motors have practically nothing to lift but themselves. What is the size of these props? 65mm? how do these motors compare with chaoli equivalent? Do you have any problem keeping the fc board level? The board is not totally flat. It has components still out. I have an eachine ex105. The craftsmanship on it is bad. The fc board was not level and as soon as I applied a bit of force the board just moved a bit. I ended up using hot glue. btw a lovely clean build again!

i think with the rtf that come with this FC there is not much passion when it comes to the build. often the FX is not on streight the sticky pad that comes with this one is thick. do despite the components not being flat. if u press it down in the right place u can make it sit flat in the foam and its in rock solid. with this frame u can get an additional FC mount too but I chose not to as it adds weight. yes they are 65m if i recall

Tyler Mills the Tarot 120, 130 and 150 DO NOT support spektrum satellite rx's, only PPM, PWM or SBUS. It's running a custom mini Naze32. That's the reason I never got the Tarot 130, bc at the time I only had a spektrum transmitter and I couldn't find a small enough DSMX ppm receiver for it.

the Turnigy evolution and i6s use a different protocol from the Flysky i6. But weirdly, there's a new Turnigy rx with SBUS that DOES work on the old i6. Painless360 did a video on it

I was gonna make an LT105 microquad, but i have found out two of my motors' leads are about 5mm too short. Which cables would you recommend to lengthen the wires, standard servo wires, or the wires that come with the CC3D? learnrobotix.com/img/pics/fpv-quadcopter-racer/250-FPV-Mini-Quadcopter-Racer-047-600x450-70rez.jpg The ones on the left on the picture

By the way, do you have any tips when soldering on an antenna on a VTX? I can do the soldering bit, but im thinking thats probably very fragile. What do you do, just put hotglue around and between it, or?

Can I bind the eachine QX 95 with DSM2 to my Spektrum DX6i ?Awesome vid, you are the most helpful channel when it comes to micro quads !
@AndyRCchannel
7 жыл бұрын
it depends on the age of your transmitter. the later spectrum tx only support dsmx as it was removed in europe. how old is the tx?
@hendrikjanssen5133

At least two year maybe even older, I bought it used from a friend.

AndyRC I know but why don't you? 25mw gives far longer flight times than 200mw.
@AndyRCchannel

I get a 6 min flight time with 200mw and 6 min 30 with 25 so its not actually that different.
@guus10
7 жыл бұрын
AndyRC okay, thats strange because i saw a video comparing it on a whoop and the 25mw was like 2:30 while the other was 1:30.

I fly a lantian 105 frame (cheapo from aliexpress) brushed and have a couple of very similar builds with the main difference being the camera. one is 200mw and one is 25mw, and can confirm that the flight time difference is quite negligible using a 800mah 1s battery. if you look at the specs between a couplea AIO cams, the amp-draw difference is generally not that big, at least compared to say 4xBrushed motors going at medium throttle anyway which hog most of your juice.
