Hi Jon, just some feedback for the edit. When you're doing these sorts of lists it would be really helpful to put the product make/name/model back up on the screen as an overlay again for the last 5 seconds of the end of the segment before you move onto the next. It saves us rewinding once you've sold us on yet another handy item :)

Great list Jon. I’ve got a few of those bits already. Just on the Heroclip. My Dad went to Peru earlier this year and borrowed my Heroclip. Said it came in SO handy for hanging his backpack whilst on the Machu Picchi trail; keeping it off the wet floor etc. I’m surprised I got it back 😅

The Olight is the “i1R2 Pro”, which is the second generation of the “i1R2”, with the R designation in the name signifying that it’s rechargeable. Before the Pro and its predecessor, there was the original “i1R”. Don’t forget to include the lower case “i” at the start of the product name in order to identify it correctly.

Unfortunately the new nu 25 is larger, heavier, and shorter range than the old one ☹️ the only improvements are USB c and the red light has a better lens. Medium spotlight mode is a little brighter than before too, that's nice. But they really screwed up with that primary flood. It's just not especially useful for a hiking/camping/backpacking light.
@JonGadget
Жыл бұрын
I have both and prefer the new one - 10g extra and a bit larger - but more flexible lighting options - but original NU25 is very good
@commentsonthetube14
Жыл бұрын
@@JonGadget oh, interesting! I have both as well. I don't necessarily hate the flood light or the extra weight, but I miss the high cri for reading maps at night and cooking. And I miss the low modes and compactness. And I'm not sure why they decided that locking and unlocking it ought to blind you now. 4 modes is also a lot to scroll through in a ui without mode memory. Kind of feels like they didn't realize a lot of the things that made the old one great. On the flip side, I'm loving the nu33. It's a bit larger though.
@anthonyng8800
Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Also the buttons are now confusing, not simple like the original, one for white, one for red. Also, the bungee cords are unnecessarily substantial. I bought a few extra original NU25s and plan to do the litesmith bungee hack
@commentsonthetube14
Жыл бұрын
@@anthonyng8800 Yeah, same. I found out that you can do the bungee hack with even less material and no cord lock by using 2 taut line hitches. Basically loop one long string through on both sides and the end comes back and ties to the main headband in a taut line hitch. I think I can cut even more bulk and weight that way.

Most of this is just crap. The Victorinox knife is nice, the soap bag is kind of useful, I already have Anker battery banks - but the rest? BTW, how many bags do you really need? 20% of the list is bags. Plus two items to hang your bags. I'm pretty sure the title says EDC, every day carry - so from the list, I would carry a knife, a flashlight and a pen. But none of the ones he's promoting. Sheesh.

Very informative video (thanks), and I ordered the Osprey ultralight bag, which I’m delighted with - amazing how small it folds up, so very convenient for travel etc. I’ve since noticed there is a “Amazons Basics“ copycat alternative, which is slightly bigger and also includes a front pocket, for nearly 1/3 of the price, so I’ve ordered that as well and will compare when it arrives.

Thank God for you - that carabiner clip that can let you hang a bag from a table is something I've been looking for - I think for years. Saw a girlie version for hangbags but (a) it had glittery bits and (b) would 100% snap under the weight of my laptop bag. I saw someone mention that idea in a personal security video years ago, he even went a step further in keeping his bag tied to his belt with a detachable cable and a super-strong paracord of some sort. I'm quite interested in doing this with a more subtle belt arrangement of having a clip under my belt and chords coming from that to attach torch and knife, perhaps a folio of other gear too. Those zip folders are ok but I find them too big and increase volume far too much (thinking suit pocket here). Have you ever come across a thin and more subtle design like a leather folding wallet design that is long and has say elasticised sections for holding gear inside? Also have you ever seen or used the Lamy Pico extending pen? I have used one for a decade and the main risk with it is register staff not wanting to give it back, they are all intrigued by it. I'd say it's roughly Fischer Space Pen length and click-extends to regular length; barrel thickness is akin to some mid-sized fountain pens (standard ballpen refill). Probably not as elegant as your thin one here but that is hard for some people to use with bigger fingers.
