With the campervan nearly finished we took the first opportunity to hit the road and head to our happy place - the North Cornish Coast! We wanted to head to our favourite campsite - Trevellas Manor Farm Campsite - near St Agnes in Cornwall and luckily the weekend after my birthday was the first weekend it opened.
This trip was also a bit of a test. By working from the van on Friday and Monday we'd get to benefit from the FULL weekend in Cornwall, rather than having to check out at lunchtime on Sunday. We also wanted to do most of the journey off peak so decided to head down Thursday evening after dinner and stay at The Jamaica Inn which is an historic inn on the old A30 just as you get into Cornwall. This plan worked out really well - the Jamaica Inn provided a comfortable, quiet nights sleep for just £10 and our in-van Wi-Fi did us proud as we worked away from the carpark on the Friday before doing the last few miles West.
When we got to the campsite, we were the first visitors of the season! Trevellas Manor Campsite is a family run campsite and has been in the same family since the 1920's - it was one of the first ever campsites in Cornwall and these days it provides a huge selection of pitches, both grass and gravel, and a significant number with hookup. The facilities are only a few years old and are excellent - spotlessly clean and plenty of showers, toilets and washing up sinks to go round! Even though there are a lot of pitches it doesn't feel like a holiday park, there is plenty of space and a relaxed vibe. The pitches are laid out around the edge of the large field rather than having rows upon rows in the centre. This gives everyone space and a nice view. The pitches at the top having the best view over the sea.
We love the location of Trevellas Manor Farm as you're literally 5 minutes from the South West Coast Path and can easily walk to St Agnes in one direction and, a little bit further, Perranporth in the other. St Agnes has a small beach, plenty of pubs and a few shops including a lovely coffee shop. Perranport is more of a resort with a massive sandy beach, beach bars and loads of surf shops and ice cream parlours!
We hope you enjoy this little insight into our trip and find it interesting. We're not sure whether to do more vlog style videos of our trips or not. There are so many people doing that but we'd love to share our journeys in Carlo the campervan. Let us know what you think - and if you'd like to see anything different or things done in a different way to usual. Appreciate the feedback :)
