I applied Bowden’s beaut beads yesterday on my black 300c. This was in direct sunlight and about 28deg c. After washing and flash prepping as per instructions I found it super easy and lovely to apply. As Dan says in the instruction video it’s even easier to buff off with the plush drop bear microfiber cloth. Amazing product to apply. Now the time will tell how long it is effective.

The thing I really love about your videos is that you don't tell people what the best product is and you demonstrate that there's no right or wrong but it's just up to the person and what they're looking for, whether it's a wax, sealant or coating. I really like that. Interesting results though! I know they're expensive buy I'd really really love to see some angelwax products lined up against each other and against maybe one of the best waxes of another brand 🙏

Sandro, my high school horn restoration project is complete, and was a success beyond imagination. I’ll email you some pics. To treat myself, I’m going to do my summer detail and use some old-school Collinite 476/915. But, the wife’s car is getting CQuartz SiC. It should be fun, and a great side-by-side (driveway) test. It’s already over 100*F in TX, and summer is just getting started. Videos like this go a long way to get us excited about revisiting less-modern products, and reminding us that skill and technique have their place in our own therapy. 🙂 Take care, and thanks.

I had a very similar experience with DSW - I applied it in the spring in the UK so maybe there was more moisture in the air, but it did dust up a fair bit. That being said, the looks, hydrophobics and longevity made it worth it, so there is a certain “no pain no gain” satisfaction from using it!

Used bilt hamber doublespeed wax as I've had fantastic experience with their cleaning products. I live in continental Europe and applied it on a cloudy late summer day and actually ended up swirling some piano black elements on the car as it was so hard to remove even with using ONR. I would apply it only in spring or autumn when there is higher humidity and temperatures go below 15 Celsius. Looks and feel are great and last 3 to 4 months. Best application is to lightly mist the panel with water, apply and remove immediately. Thanks for your reviews. Always love to watch them although not all products are available in my country and would make them too expensive to import, so that has to be a criteria as well when selecting the products you use.

I'm a big fan of the turtle wax although I've never used the paste form. I've got more expensive products from bigger name brands but every time I use the hard shell I find it does the job just as well as any others, I think a lot of the issues people have with it are down to user error I.e over applying or letting it sit too long. I always get taken in with newer products with slick marketing but sure enough find my way back to the old stalwarts like hard shell and SRP. They just work!

I've been using Pinnacle Signature for a while and find it gives a great finish to my red metalic paint. The wax compound is perfect to apply just the right amount to the applicator. I know it's now an older wax but I love the warm finish on my paint and to be honest I just prefer the old school process of putting in the work then stand back and see the results. I get that there is better easier products out there but I found looking for perfection was a hole I was heading down and was just getting frustrated confused and my wallet was taking a huge hit. I guess I found a product that like like and I'm happy with that. Life's good. Great tutorial Sandro really enjoyed the comparisons.

I disagree. I use a lot of different products on the market and when directions are followed that "stuff" works just fine. It's the stuff that becomes the default bash because most of the people that do bash it either have never used it and don't have a clue or don't follow "directions" or even worse just buy it thinking it's a magic potion and use/apply it without any sort of prep. Old-school? Yep. Better-newer stuff? Yep. Easy to apply & remove? Yep. Still an effective product? Yep. Inexpensive? Yep. Bad product? Absolutely not.

Hey Sandro, great review as always. Good to see Bowdens did so well. Can you tell me the main difference between a liquid wax and a paste? I currently use Bowdens liquid carnuba which I love due to the ease of application and the finish it produces. I'm due for a replacement bottle so thinking of trying Beaut Beads, although it is pricey - $160 at Repco!
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Whether a wax is in paste or liquid form doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better, worse or really any different in terms of performance, it can but it also can just mean that the manufacturer decided to go for a more traditional paste wax consistency rather than a more modern liquid one. So it’s really more about the specific wax itself that’s going to determine how good, bad, easy or difficult it is to apply and how it performs and looks. Generally high content and high quality Carnauba waxes are expensive to make which tends to make them quite pricy, but apart from that I wouldn’t rate a wax on whether it’s in liquid or paste form, I’d rate it based on the user experience, looks and performance.

It’s hard to say without some direct comparisons, but I would imagine the wax would look and feel a little nicer, but I’d guess that Nanolicious and Wet Dreams may have better water behaviour and are obviously super quick and easy to apply. Durability would be an interesting one to test out but I’d presume Nanolicious would last as long as Wet dreams and it may be close with the new wax.

While I can't comment on the others.. I have used turtle wax hard shell /once/ before and when it flashed it became.... well hard. I could not level it down, remove it, buff it... nothing worked. I had never experienced such a thing with a paste wax before, so I was very confused. I contacted the company for advice and got no reply to how to remove the wax without damaging the paint, so. I ended up washing the affected areas with acetone and never used that product again. Only recently after seeing your videos did I reconsider using turtle wax's products again. That said another product I had questionable results from was Nu Wax "Year round protection" and I'd be curious your thoughts on it.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing

Wow that sounds insane with your Hard Shell experience having to use acetone to remove it! If it’s Nu Finish Wax you’re referring to it’s been decades since I used it but it was really a car sealant and I’d really have to revisit it, but that could be interesting to test out.
@FakeJeep

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Yup that's the one. They have two different kinds at the local store, but both gave me... mixed results so I was confused by its performance as a whole. Unlike brands like Meguiars that give fairly consistent results from their wax. Acetone might have been extreme, but given I had no idea what reaction was occurring even after washing the vehicle twice and drying... so I just opted for the route I knew would strip it to the clear.

Not sure what your comments about "they" ramming it down our throats in the 80's means(?)... how, what?... I don't recall being held any sort of hostage in making my wax choices at that time. That old school turtle wax is trash. It's like a 40+ year old product that hasnt been updated much. No 'real' car people use that Turtle Wax stuff in the US. I actually use a lot of Nv Car Care now that they have US distribution, but for some better US brands, I would recommend Griot's Garage (based in WA, so shipping is a little easier to AUS) and Adam's Polishes (out of CO). Adam's has some of th best UX on the market, imo.
