I just switched from Verizon to att and I’m happy with the results. What triggered me to switch was my Verizon bill was over $100 a month and I was not even financing a phone and Verizon service was going complete downhill in my area so I tested out wing to try out att and when I found out att worked great in my area, I switched to att. I would’ve stayed with wing but I wanted a true unlimited plan and the ability to go in a store when needed. I’m just not a fan of online only support. So far I’m almost 45 days in and not an issue but I can confirm WiFi calling does work on my iPhone XS Max that was bought outright from Verizon directly. Idk if it’s just a prepaid thing.

I put my mom on Unreal Mobile with their 3 month $20 prepaid plan of unlimited calls, texts, and 1GB LTE. It was a pretty bad experience. They used VOIP for calls and texts through the Unreal Mobile app, so you couldn't use the normal phone app. This caused some issues with calling/texting contacts, and there was also a brief period where my mom couldn't call anyone but could receive calls due to a bug in the app. I have since switched her to Mint Mobile, and she hasn't had problems ever since. I didn't know about Red Pocket acquiring Unreal, so hopefully their service improved and actually includes real phone service instead of calling/texting through an app.
@StetsonDoggett
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, since Red Pocket has aquired Unreal Mobile they now do offer real phone service. No need for the Unreal Mobile app or VoIP. you can make calls from the regular dialer app on your phone. That said, I haven't tried them personally so I'm not sure what the experience is like. They are simply offering one of the best deals out there right now and are at least worth knowing about.
@Fayr1

@@StetsonDoggett I see. I'll be looking forward to a future video on their offers! Also, as a side note, when I was transferring my mom's phone number to Mint Mobile, I had to port it first to T-Mobile and then Mint because Unreal Mobile apparently turns your phone number into a landline number when you use their service. If they haven't changed it since being acquired, this might be something to note because Mint Mobile wasn't able to port landline numbers directly.

Hey Stetson! Thanks for the video! I actually just noticed AT&T’s Prepaid plan for $50. What a deal! It is only available from now until October 29th of this year. I did confirm with AT&T that their International plans along with the International Day pass can be added to their prepaid plans (Unlimited Plus in this case). People always mention that Prepaid is slower than postpaid, but I would say that it depends. I pasted a paragraph that I had posted elsewhere and thought it would be interesting for you to hear. Once you go through your Premium data with AT&T, you drop from a QCI 8 to QCI 9 which is the same as prepaid. I go through the regular 22 GB of Premium Data (on QCI 8) within 3 days, so I probably wouldn’t notice much of a difference with AT&T Prepaid vs Postpaid. AT&T Unlimited Elite starts out at QCI 7, which is one level below FirstNet (QCI 6), and drops to QCI 9 after 100 GB of Data usage. Only the highest Business Unlimited Elite plan gets full priority of QCI 6 (which is the same as the first responder network) no matter how much you use. There is talk that consumer streaming and video on that plan is on a lower priority level of QCI 7 or 8. Therefore, Prepaid can actually be the exact same speed and priority as Postpaid. It just depends on how much you use and what specific plan you get. I think it would be a really great addition to talk about the actual QCI priority numbers associated with each plan to help people understand if it is worth it to buy a plan with higher priority or not. I had no clue before doing some in-depth research that Prepaid and Postpaid can actually have the same priority depending on how much data you use per month. I hope this helps and is useful!

The att prepaid unlimited plus promo is a steal and is low key the best unlimited plan in America imo. Went over the 22GB priority and currently at 34GB streaming 4K video for hours with no stuttering. 5G and hotspot being included sweeten the deal. Question on Mints 12Gb plan..How is this the best plan Mint offers ? If you're not careful, you can use up all the date in under 10 days....Can u explain?
@StetsonDoggett
4 жыл бұрын
Offering plans with set data amounts is one of the reasons Mint is able to keep their costs so low. By knowing how much cellular data their subscribers will be using, they can negotiate better data rates with T-Mobile. Mint is choosing to offer 12GB as their current highest data plan as a trade-off for keeping their plans so cheap. Hope this makes sense. I have a 2004 Motorola Razr v3 (Cingular Wireless/2G) phone. AT&T just told me it is too old to be unlocked 😆. I heard that T-mobile is the only carrier that supports 2G (until 2022). Does this mean it is officially a museum piece now, or would AT&T's voice only plan work? My goal is to experiment using a re-purposed 2G, backup phone, until it is physically shut down. I miss the sleekness and small size of old Rzrs. BTW, my main phone is a Galaxy Note 10+ and the other is to help me detox from my 50-100 GB of Data average p/month. Hopefully I will sleep better (not being tempted by KZitem; after lying down) LOL.

I hack Red Pocket generally been pleased with it no issues beyond picture mail. For some reason sending picture mail can be EXTREMELY hit or miss with roughly 90% of the time it failing. I've tried different API settings, two different phones as well and generally picture mail is a no go for me. I can receive them perfectly fine I and when I go to send everything looks normal, phone acts like it send, just never arrives. This happens on my Le Eco Pro 3, and LG G8. Both are unlocked but maybe it works for you idk take it how you will beyond that tho (I never send picture mail anyways) it may work for you if lucky.

The truth is it is somewhat unclear how exactly AT&T prioritizes cellular data connections. For the most part, you can assume the AT&T postpaid plans have the highest data priority. All prepaid plans and plans from MVNOs likely have lower data priority. I hope to look into this in the future. It's something I'd love to learn more about.

I have looked into this WIFI Calling with AT&T in depth. This goes for all the AT&T MVNO'S as well. Most of the time WIFI Calling works with IPhones 6 and up. WIFI Calling works on most but not all AT&T pre-paid plans with AT&T purchased Android phones. BYOD Android phones do not get WiFi Calling. There are reports by some that recently some Pixel devices are getting WIFI Calling. I was able to get it on Boom with a Galaxy S10e by flashing the AT&T firmware. With the factory unlocked U1 firmware no WiFi call on AT&T. WIFI Calling works with unlocked BYOD Android devices on Verizon, T-mobile and their MVNO'S.
