Yes, I have heard of it. AMAZING that you can cover all your homeschool in a 200 dollar payment. It's good. But the format is obviously not that exciting. Why don't you see if it works for you? Some parents love it. Others find it too uninteresting. I like that it's classical and Christian.

Portals Academy is a new Christian homeschool resource that I have had the pleasure of helping to develop and one of the best ways we have found to describe our program ironically is as an engine 😄 Our guides, resources and on-call support are designed to be a reliable machine around which families can flexibly design whatever kind of vehicle they need. Our aim is to help new homeschool families transition and get a taste of a lot of different approaches so they can start figuring out what works best for their family in their first year. Therefore, I would also describe us as pretty eclectic - unit studies around living books, Charlotte Mason approach to science, mastery based math and reading, lots of online resources and hands-on learning. Most importantly we put the Gospel and Biblical Truth at the foundation and everything else builds from there!

@@howtohomeschool This year we are doing MFW Kimdergarten units with our littles with AO year 0 added to our nursery basket this year. Hoping to combine AO year 1 and MFW Adventures 2nd semester. For our older children we are doing so many things, but are mainly mixing AO with Robinson curriculum. Both have excellent booklist, but are definitely different in philosophy and find the differences mainoy because of Mason being a feeling female and Robinson being a pretty serious male. Both love classic books, Robinson has an amazing vocabulary program with the books and AO encourages narrations with the books...so by doing vocab with Robinson books and Narration with AO books you get the best of both worlds.

I've just made this video, which is way more detailed and I think a much better. Hopefully you'll find it helpful: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tImZy2WhcqxymH4 BJU Press online comes as accredited or unaccredited at no extra cost. If you like you can do a free consultation with Sharon before getting it though if that's helpful: sfisher@preceptmarketing.com If they study the accredited version it will be viewed EXACTLY as if they went to a school and got a diploma from there. Because that's what it is. So the answer is yes. God bless friend.

Super helpful! I get a bit stingy when I see curricula prices but I keep reminding myself that in Tassie it costs easily $2000 for 3 children going to high school. That covers public school fees and some stationary, backpacks, and a few uniform pieces (assuming some items are in good enough condition to pass on to younger siblings.) I'm pretty sure I save money by home educating our 3 children. (Just one of the many benefits 😉 ) Ours will be 8, 6 and 3 by the end of the year. We're really big on Reading Eggs and Maths Seeds. I'm looking forward to getting beyond those and doing more interesting things.

@@howtohomeschool Sunshine Online worked really well for my second child, but the oldest didn't click with it. (I think it was an attitude issue.) We had a look at Literacy Planet but it didn't work out so well. Our oldest is ADHD/ASD/Dyslexic and he found it too busy/simulating but in all the wrong ways. It didn't work well for number 2 but we're not sure why. He's our "academic genius" child. He got through Reading Eggs and on to Reading Eggspress in 3 months. He's not yet 6 years old. Readings Eggs in general has been a hit with all three of our boys. Almost 8, nearly 6 and going on 3. 👌🏻😁

@howtohomeschool
Жыл бұрын
Ohhh...so you'll be wanting something rigorous. You can choose a program you love and then just up the academic level. My son has just turned 6 but he's a year ahead in all subjects because I guess he's somewhat gifted. But most homeschoolers are all over the place with their grade levels...sometimes 'ahead', sometimes 'behind'. BJU press is quite rigorous but can be pricey. Also the classical programs tend to be rigorous...but they're not for everyone. Heart of dakota is rigorous charlotte mason. Easy peasy is a free all in one program which is quite rigorous too. Get him listening to lots of audiobooks too! AMBLESIDE ONLINE has great reading lists for finding quality titles. My son listens to mostly middle school even though he's primary aged. He has an incredible vocabulary but I just think it's because he's listened to so many audiobooks and loves them. Maybe an hour a day if you can :) We also put the bible on audiobook for him two nights a week too so he has a good understanding of especially the gospel now. Hope that essay is helpful for you!

Oh...not a hard ask at all! 😜 Breifly MFW is eclectic (uses Charlotte Mason, Classical and unit studies), Simply CM is...CM moreso! And A Gentle Feast is CM too. I think there's more support with AGF. Off the top of the head I can't think aout too many more differences. I know they both do morning time and have big booklists and will send you printed instructions and workbooks etc. MFW prob gets the most glowing reviews out of all of them though...and many people talk about it being amazing in terms of gospel content.
