I use Chemical Guys products on my Mazda which is 8 years old. My paint looks awesome after I spend the time to do it. I've used the medium clay bar and it does the job. My paint is white so I see all the orange spots on my roof and trunk. It cleans it up in a snap. :)

Love the clay disc idea. I have used a clay bar in the past to clay bar the whole vehicle and it did take a good amount of time. It was pretty time consuming. (Mostly because the vehicle had never been clay bar'ed before) 7 years old.

Usually, if we use clay bar, we need to fold to the clean surface, if clay block/mitt/cloth, we need to clean from time to time. I am doubt if we use DA polisher. No matter how slow we run the DA, it will still many times faster than hand. The dirt that rubbed out will scratch the car surface over and over again............

Is it okay to use the OG clay bar on a well maintained car that should use light clay bar on
@ChemicalGuys
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Leighway, how's it going? You always want to use the least aggressive product as possible to achieve the desired results. If your car needs only the light clay bar, use the light clay bar. If it needs something stronger, use the OG clay bar. If you aren't sure, you can always test the OG bar on an inconspicuous spot!

@ChemicalGuys

Hey Josh, if your car sits outside 24x7 without garage cover, chances are it is in need of a thorough clay bar service. Cars in metropolitan and industrial areas that do not receive garage cover at any time are subject to intense contamination with all manner of pollution, industrial fallout, brake dust, and natural elements that stick to paint. When no other light duty clay bar can cut through the filth, bust out the Medium Duty Clay Bar. This extra-sticky clay bar formula grabs hard to stubborn surface contaminants, and gently pulls them from the surface to restore that smooth-as-glass feel we all know and love. The Medium Duty Clay Bar is perfect for cars that are not decontaminated on a regular basis, or for the first clay bar service on a 5-year-old car that has never received one. For lighter duty jobs, consider the yellow clay bar or the blue clay bar. Thanks for watching, Josh, and check back tomorrow for a new video!

Curious if you guys have figured out about how long these mitts last over traditional bars? Im skeptical to purchase one seeing as how they are around $50 and a bar is only $10. I like the idea of the hand mitt, which would allow you to get into smaller/more intricate areas. But as the saying goes, "if it isnt broke, dont fix it".

Depends on how dirty u get it and what products are already on your vehicle Usually after applying a sealent and polish you typically can just wipe of the dust for 2-3 months until you need to apply the selant again If u just polish and wax the vehicle then you might need to do that after every 1-2 months In short depends upon what products are being used It’s already in their product discroption on their website

What the heck is "Rail Dust"? Do you get that from being near a train?
@ChemicalGuys
7 жыл бұрын
How's it going, here's an explanation of what rail dust is. Rail dust is exactly that, when cars are transported by train (rail) from the factory to a city, the metal wheels of the train cars running on metal rails create small particles of metal that fly into the air and land on the horizontal surfaces of the car. They are hot and will adhere to the paint. Then when they get wet from rain; snow or just dew they rust and create tiny little rust spots which are quite visible on white, yellow, beige or light colored cars.

Should I clay my car every time i wax my car and should I clay my car every time I glaze my car.
@ChemicalGuys
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Adrian, we recommend that you don't clay every time you are going to wax. The reason is this: you're giving your car the clay bar treatment to remove above-surface contamination that has embedded on your paintwork to return it to a smooth as glass feel. Whenever you wax your car, you're protecting it from getting contamination to often We recommend claying before a polish or if you feel your surface has gotten to rough. Another reason you don't want to clay it too often is since it is ridding contamination, it is leaving behind very light marring and scratches because it's abrasive to remove the filth and you don't want to do it all the time because then it will accumulate. Use it under your own discretion but you don't need to clay as often as you think. Take your hand over the pain every now and then and feel if it's too rough for your taste. Thanks for the question Adrian and have a great weekend!

@ChemicalGuys
7 жыл бұрын
Hey there, thanks for watching. It really depends on your preference. Each type of clay has its own set of pros and cons. Clay bars are great for removing contamination, and are easy to mold, however once dropped, they have to be thrown away. Clay block are great because they have a foam backing for easy grip, and they can be cleaned after dropping. Clay mitts, and discs are great because they remove contamination from larger surface areas, the drawback is that they need more lubrication. My personal favorite is the clay block, it's very convenient, and you can reuse it if you drop it on the ground. C.G. Alex -

Chemical Guys I’m eyeing that clay block at the moment. My truck needs a good clay job, but I’ve never clayed anything before. Maybe you can give me some technical knowledge; with a clay bar, is it supposed to get the contaminants out of the paint and move them out of the way via lubricant runoff, or is it supposed to absorb them into the clay bar? I️ can’t imagine the clay BLOCK absorbing contaminants since the face is rubber; therefore the only path I️ see for it to go is in the runoff. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

@ChemicalGuys
5 жыл бұрын
If the paint feels rough then we recommend to use a clay bar on it to remove the contamination on the paint and re-apply a fresh coat of JetSeal to protect the paint and prevent contaminants from sticking in the future. Also try to frequently maintain your paint by washing your vehicle or cleaning it with a waterless wash to maintain the JetSeal.

@ChemicalGuys

We recommend that you follow our detailing flow chart and start your detail from scratch by stripping and decontaminating the paint so that there isn't anything on the paint that will compromise your results. Start off by washing the paint, proceed to the clay bar process and assess the paint to determine whether or not the paint needs polishing. If so then perform a paint correction and if not then skip the polishing process and continue with the next steps. The next steps in your detail will now enhance and protect your freshly clean, contaminate and scratch free paint. Optional step: Apply a coat of glaze to condition your paint to hide light imperfections if not removed by polish. Apply a coat of sealant or wax or both to your paint dependent on what you would like to do. Finally just maintain your paint with a quick detailer, spray wax or spray sealant after a wash to maintain shine and protection.

We recommend using Clean Slate which is a surface cleansing soap that will break down any oils from sealants or wax on the paint to show your paint in its true form.
