Great test, thanks! I’m going to campaign against saying L E D and just saying “light”. I haven’t bought a cordless tool with anything other than LEDs for well over 10 years. 😉

Your video certainly assisted my wife with her buying decision. When she asked me about electric glue guns I was clueless. Crafts are her thing and she has been using a corded one for years, She is much happier with the cordless. Thank you!

One suggestion: add an adjusted chart for the time for different sized glue sticks. ie: calculate what the volume of each glue stick is and multiply the times. That’ll tell you how much actual glue you’ll get per second. Other thought: try dispensing a certain bead width and show seconds per inch. Wouldn’t have to do that for every one. It just seems like it could be helpful for someone who wanted to get a feel for long beads of glue. If it was one inch per second for one model, then I could look at the time per glue stick chart and see what to expect from a different one. Great video, thanks for it! I have the Dremel tiny glue gun. It works and it’s tiny. When I end up doing more glue gun work, I’ll have to re-watch this to figure out what gun to upgrade to.

As a PDR tech, this is an important tool. Recently picked up the Mellif Cordless Hot Glue Gun for Milwaukee for $25 bucks. Paired with a HO 8ah battery, I'm getting at least 5 hours of run time with minimal battery drain which is much better than my $180 cordless that I've had for many years. Durabilty/longevity is unknown but it's cheap enough to have a few.

Might want to check the promo materials on the Ryobi pen style. While I agree it's not the most ergonomic; you're holding it differently than intended.

I had the same issue with the small Ryobi stick gun ...until I figured out how to hold it. As a right hand user, position the tool with the "WARNINGS" decal facing you. It will be upside down and the battery compartment will be jutting up and to the right while the glue stick will be pointing right and will be underneath the battery compartment. Now grab the gun, with the crotch formed by your right pointer and index finger, directly behind the silicone heat guard at the front of the gun, holding it much like you see Texans holding a big fat cigar in the movies. Rotate the gun until your thumb lines up well with the gray dispensing paddle on the near side of the gun and then push with your thumb. I'm nearly 70 YO with arthritis in my thumb and I still find it easy to use in this position and I have good control and visibility of where the glue is going. The Ryobi glue dispenses with a less effort than the Gorilla All Temperature sticks that I use and I think it's because they just melt at a lower temp and therefore, more completely. The trade off is that they string really badly while the Gorilla snaps free without the 3 foot long string that is so aggravating. I hope this restores your enthusiasm for the new Ryobi tool after you try it.

I was today years old when I learned just how many glue guns Surebonder sells. I’d love to see a test of the corded 300w professional glue gun. Personally I’ll stick with my dual temp Ryobi but if it ever fails I may get the Ridgid as I have some of their batteries. Great tests as always!

I love your inline power meter setup. That looks very familiar :) (I have a much crappier meter, but it was $15 for two, so great for having fun)
