Mercedes' MBUX with their electric intelligence ist by far the best system here. And in addition to that you probably didn't test the charging times and performance, because the EQA also has a maximum of 113kW not 100kW - Mercedes always is understating - like in the acceleration, wich is also better than in the official dates. I don't understand what twisted metric determined that the tiny, subcompact MX-30 and e-Niro are "proper SUVs" but the Ioniq 5 and EV6 are disqualified because they are "hatchbacks"? The Ioniq 5 and EV6 are taller than both (bigger in every dimension, really) - and they're even taller than the winning Enyaq. Seems insane to me to remove two cars that have would have been strong contenders because... why? Their ground clearance is a whole 25mm lower? There has to be more to the story as to why the Ioniq 5 and EV6 were not selected, because by any reasonable metric they're in the same category - or larger - than all of these other cars. For me the Kia E niro is the big winner. Besides the looks and some less space, it is has the most features for the money which isn't mentioned here. With the same options in the Skoda the price of the Skoda will raise to 7.000 pounds. The Kia is also the most efficient in KW consumption. The Kia is also quicker in acceleration and has better handling in corners. The recuperation is still the best you can get these days on EV's. I have the Kia now for 1 month and my Neighbour the Skoda for 2 months. We drove in each other cars and share these thoughts. 18KW consumption on 100KM with the Skoda vs 12KW on 100KM with the Kia consumption is a big difference. I do love a good ol' EV comparison and, despite this being based on overly big, inefficient SUVs and not sensible, better-value-for-money car-based EVs, this was enjoyable to watch... However, your overall rating for each car seems to be rather subjective maybe....? For example, you gave the Audi Q4 E-Tron an overall rating of 5/5, yet the Enyaq only a 4/5, despite it beating the Q4 on points in the first 6 categories and having a longer range... I'm sure the (admittedly optional, but not exactly expensive) 25kW difference in charging speed can't have made THAT much difference in your assessments...????

Hi Jonathan. Thanks very much for your comment, and glad you liked the film! Just to clarify, the 5/5 rating for the Q4 and 4/5 rating for the Skoda weren't overall ratings. These were ratings specifically for the 'Everyday EV Usability' portion of the test, which is why the accompanying header stays at the top of the screen while that rating shows. We felt it best to break out these ratings from the rest of the EV info so they didn't get lost. I think it's strange to pick finalists on other specifications first before taking them on that tour and establish the use for the money. And that stylist wasn't an add on too. And the Kia is 80kW max. Not 100. In the intro you said you'll know all about their range and charging on tour. That didn't come out too. The time over a certain distance to travel needs to account for charging speed and battery size combined with efficiency. Non of those was a criteria here. Not to say the Enyaq isn't a winner, the test is just all backwards really.

A very interesting and extremely well-presented test. FWIW I've owned an ICE Skoda Octavia for nigh on ten years but [without driving it] ruled out the Enyaq because (a) I didn't like the interior and (b) my wife would find it too big. Instead I was cajoled by the boss (who incidentally has zero interest in cars) into buying a used Kia e-Niro 4 - in a colour I've always said I would never buy (silver) - so I was initially worried that it would be a very expensive mistake that I would have to live with for years to come, but the more I drive it the more I like it! We've only had it for some six weeks but it is very easy to drive - especially downhill and on wiggly roads because of the very effective regernative braking - and the interior looks and feels like a 'standard' high spec vehicle, not a futuristic concept car with an iPad Pro for a dashboard. My main reason for commenting though is from a road safety perspective... I hate it when reviewers and journalists of any complexion talk to camera whilst driving. Any live commentary is going to distract the driver from [what should be] the main task in hand - driving the car - but it's what we the audience want to hear, so done with care it's arguably a necessary evil. What is unacceptable, however, is the natural and understandable instinct of the reporter to maintain eye contact with the audience by looking directly at the camera (or indeed for any driver to face his passenger when conversing...). Ivan is a particular culprit here and can be seen travelling significant distances without his eyes on the road ahead, let alone actually observing what he sees. His mind is already distracted by thinking of what he wants to say (in the same way that hands-free telephone conversations can [at best] cause one to miss a turning, for example), but he should at least be looking ahead all the time he is speaking. Come on guys - do try and set an example to us lesser mortals and keep yourself safe into the bargain!

It is a little bit sad, that Ioniq 5 is missing (and maybe I would have waited for Model Y too). I think the most reasonable range tests are those, where many cars are going the same route same time same speed. That way the differences due to the environment do not affect them and the efficiency and range differences show a clearer picture where these cars are compared to each other.

I startet 2016 with a Model 3 reservation, then bought a used Kia e-Soul in 02/2018 (couldnt wait any longer for a BEV) and then actually switched to the e-Niro in 08/2020 and canceled the Model 3 reservation. The Enyak also came late into my shortlist - but the e-Niro still was the better choice because its a bit more compact for every day driving - and for family holidays with 4 people I put a 600 Liter Thule Roofbox on it, which still doesnot increase the consumption too much: Below 20kWh/100km on Autobahn with roofbox in the e-Niro in summer and 22,5kWh/100km in winter. The Enyak draws a lot more kWh in that case, when I look at consumption tests.

Great to hear… I’ve been so confused of which to pick… Kia or enyaq iv 60 ..? Or Id4 even. Will have to take a closer look at Kia . What’s the range on a good day at 110kmph? 10-80% ? Oh the anxiety I have. Family… 2 kids…

@@AzizIzgin I have an e-Niro since January 2021, and I almost never pass over 110km/h on motorway. The most common trips that we do in spring-summer-fall mix 90Km/h secondary roads with motorway. I can say you our average consume is 15-16Kwh, about 420Km of range. The odometer marks 21.000km and the average consume is 14.8KWh. In winter the consume rise up considerably, because my car hasn't a heater pump. An additional remark. The consume is almost the same with only one passenger (driver) than with four passengers and the boot full of things. I hope that will be helpful to you. You can ask me what you need.

@@murfmac9197 @Tom Well, this embarrassing…! Congrats to both of you for spotting the ‘deliberate’ mistake! Okay, hands up, it wasn’t at all deliberate. As you rightly identify, this is a very unfortunate typo. Where it says ‘monthly’ in relation to the BIK tax costs, it should say ‘annual’. The figures themselves are correct in the original context, but they are labelled incorrectly. For the genuine monthly cost, simply divide by 12. Claimed efficiency for e-Niro should surely have been 282/64=4.4? It's a stunningly efficient car. Only charges at 77kW max though not 100, and that only with a warm battery (hence the 52kW seen in the video). Great car though.

For example, "cool and quirky" is not a positive for most of us. They regenerate almost no power back and make u feel sea sick.. normal mode will be selected all the time.. hybrids are right now.
