I love my Savage 120 mk2. So many options! Really this amp will do everything you need! Great review, and opened up my eyes to even more sonic variations that I haven’t messed with.

Nice to hear! I found out recently that if you push the channel volume at least at 2 o’clock the sound will open up even more.

@@JulianDaniels I got an OX box and have the volume up and it’s awesome! I did wonder, have you tried any Overdrive pedals in front of it and if so any that you prefer? I’ve debated on it, since it’s already so great.

Agreed. Stop fighting it and just get an ENGL Savage 120 SE MKII you will love it from Hammerfall Legacy of Kings to Dying Fetus Reign Supreme, it does it all.

@@JulianDaniels killer my brother ! Glad it is the best ENGL you have played ! Especially if just putting all the settings at noon and getting a great base sound/tone. These amps track so well for recording. Awesome that it is the best you have played, even with the plethora of options. Congrats !

I also have GAS, it's tough man. Only cure was to buy the FE SE... but it's only a temporary cure... eventually the disease returns... :sadpanda:

Great Demo. A lot of tones can be tweaked from this amp. Have you tried cranking the channel volumes and lower the global/master . Interesting high gain tones . Love it.
@JulianDaniels

Yes, I tried and it even makes this amp breathe better. Now I have the preamp volumes at around 2-3 o‘ clock. When cranked up completely I feel some kind of saturation that takes away the tightness. So, you need to find your sweet spot.

@@JulianDaniels I agree, and Engl designed the amp IMHO without bad sounds/tones, just different flavors.

Hey! Great video! I was wondering what the pickups are in your Mayones guitar?

Thank you so much! The pickups are Bare Knuckle Juggernauts. Imo the best passive pickups on earth.

Great demo! What's the volume like in the room? When you sit next to the amp and cab how loud do you have it dialed in?
@JulianDaniels

It was loud enough. I couldn’t talk when playing, but they weren’t cranked up which is not necessary with ENGL amps.

Hi I'm thinking about getting a savage 120. Would you say that crunch 2 is good for modern metal. I would use lead channel for solos
@JulianDaniels

Yes, it is perfect. Maybe you should add a boost in front to get more distortion out of channel 3. But it is tight as hell!!!

Hi I got this amp several months ago and the 'Tone Balance' knob seem to do nothing to my ear.....
@JulianDaniels

The tone balance knob is really subtle. Too subtle to hear on stage. It might just change the focus from the low mids to the high mids a tiny little bit.

You guys aren't helping my "need" for a new amp. I have an Powerball v1.2 and it sounds great with a good OD and EQ (otherwise it's very flat and lacking in sound). But now I really want a Savage.

@@gazzaduce3424 i find theres no use for the savage 60 as the price difference is minimal. i got the savage 120 and its possible to set to low volume playing and sound great. the trick is just to crank the channel volume but attenuate it with the master.

@@genghisghosthi. so Savage 120 mk 2 give juicy sound at lower compare to 60w version? and thats why 120w is better for home right?

@@rinatdautbaev1065 its not about juicy or not. they probably sound exactly the same and you would set the 120 lower, so less wear on the power tubes. Also bigger transformer will always sound juicier
