Seth is freaking awesome! Living in the Upper Peninsula you don't get alot of guys focusing on Northern Largemouth. Smallmouth, smallmouth, smallmouth...I truly appreciate this info. Mr. Feider would absolutely be in my top 5 guys to fish with!

Tons of great info here. For me (up north), it's always been a swimjig in the fall. Seth is right about the bass prefering a bulkier presentation, ostensibly to gain weight before the winter. For smallies, I'll up the size of all of my paddletails and slow them down a tad. Gold fleck if you got 'em. My favourite season hands down.

Also dude you hit it on the head it's magical fishing up north in the fall last year I was catching 15 bass at my main pond all over 1.5 pounds in 2 hours when all summer you might get 4-5 in a day if your lucky it lasted for three weeks every morning before work the moon was still out when I'd get there strike king 1.5 sqaure bill chartreuse black killer always first cast till I had to leave 75 percent were on that. Best fishing of my life

You said bass are fattening up for winter in the fall. Not sure that is correct as they are cold blooded and are not able to or do they need to store unsaturated fat. They do store saturated fat, but that is for short term body maintenance. This is why you never see a layer of fat on a bass like you would a deer or other warm-blooded animals that need an insulating layer and fuel reserves for cold months.
