I like your approach and attitude. If you buy something new like this--almost, but not fully engineered--you need to drive it, enjoy it and HUSH. Or, as you have done, drive and enjoy it--and fiddle around like it's a hobby, and fix it. All of your fixes, especially the brake light are excellent.

Good information for those of us considering a Vanderhall. I hope they address your concerns - especially the reflection in the window at night and the need for a 3rd - very noticeable break light - it could look good and it would increase safety.

Nice job on the 3rd brake light and, as you stated, should be mandatory. When it became required back in the '80s rear-enders dropped significantly. Nice graphics you have although I'd probably go with flat or satin on the hood to minimize glare and match up with the lower panels.

I was expecting some guy whining about stuff he doesn't like about something he just bought, so almost didn't watch this. BUT, I'm glad I did because not only is he NOT a whiny complainer but all of his complaints are very valid and reasonable. I hope the Vanderhall company sees this and has enough common sense to listen to this customer's suggestions for improvements to their product, all (I would modify his complaint about the hood attachments to suggest changing from bolts, of any kind, to quick latch fasteners like one finds on tool chest lids) which seem to be not just good ideas but easily and inexpensively remedied on a production basis.

Been looking at the Polaris Slingshot and Vanderhall for a couple of years now. Not sure which one to eventually get. They both have pros and cons. Biggest thing I don't like about the Vanderhall is the width of the cockpit, hood on cheaper models being a pain to not simply open, interior not waterproof, parts and following seem to be limited. The Slingshot seems to have a large following and alot of parts available, but it's made by Polaris and now has a Polaris motor, one wheel drive and dangerous in rain. I'm not a fan of Polaris. Not sure if they fixed the issues with the angle drive. They keep going up in price as well. However I like the look of the Slingshot. I was looking at the Vanderall Blackjack with a couple of upgrades like the bumpshift and cruise control and the slingshot I was looking at the manual R model. Around Feb they drop in price here about 4-5k so they should be comparable in price, but I think I would be getting more for money with the Slingshot and leaning that way. Curious to see the performance differences between the Vanderhall and 2020 Slingshot since the slingshot has a new engine now. Still love the sound of the turbo in the Vanderhall though. Fun fun!
@oobeedoobenubi
4 жыл бұрын
I think the worst thing about the slingshot is it looks like they used all their design on the front and then ran out. The result is a back end that looks like a plastic bathtub. I can't get past how terrible the back end looks on them.
@cashxx
4 жыл бұрын
@@oobeedoobenubi I agree! The front end looks fantastic and then goes to nothing as you get towards the rear. The plastic interior doesn't bother me as sooner or later you are going to get caught in the rain just like on a motorcycle and nice that everything is waterproof. The interior in the new 2020 models make a lot more sense as well with cup holders, steering wheel, etc. Hard decision to make! Getting up into the 30k price, I might just say piss on it and get a Miata RF....lol
@Usefullinformationphilippines

The slingshot is cheap in the used market. They didn’t get it right until 2018 and you should not pay over $17,000 with the good radio. The 2020 vanderhall has more room in it and other improvements .

@@cashxx stylistically, they're very different. The Slingshot is more sporty, edgier, angular looking, not everyone's cup of tea. The Vanderhall is a more classic roadster looking vehicle with different driving dynamics due to FWD. I recently purchased the 2020 Polaris Slingshot R with the 5 speed manual. To me, the interior feels spacious and has a certain number of creature comforts that make it more enjoyable. Frankly, the SS's overall styling speaks to me. Driving the SS requires finesse to not overwhelm the rear tire, having said that, it boils down to personal preference. Enjoy, the road in either one.

@TexasOatmeal

There's still 8 bolts holding it in place...I used rivet nuts instead of the cheap clips that come on the frame but they are not likely to work on newer models. Most people have been swapping to cage nuts now. Either way, you still use the same 8 bolts to hold the hood on
