You are so generous Lea. I was in such a matchy-matchy funk with two big totes of charms UNTIL I found you. I've made really beautiful quilts thanks to you. I can't believe how amazing different fabrics can come together using your 'rules'. WOW. Thanks so much.

I love making baby quilts. For new quilters they are the perfect project to gain mastery over all the skills needed for quilting: picking a fabric, curating fabric, cutting, sewing, trimming, pressing, ripping, cussing, bleeding and crying. Your beautiful melange of patterns and fabrics will provide great inspiration. My current baby quilts are big block (quilters choice) set on point: Allows for big fun block in middle, flange or small border around center and four big corners. Easy to piece. Dramatic. Quick. A good way to work with a fat quarter…often they do not play well with other fabrics. Pick a complementary solid color and a background, your brain does have to work too hard. I have several fat quarters to deploy as part of my Swedish Death quilting. Though I should ficus on cleaning first.

Help please? Have you ever tried making a quilt out of chenille fabric? I have 5 yards of 60” purchased fabric & would love to be able to use it for a quilt. Not sure if the edges would fray. Do you think it could only be used as a solid backing or could I use it for individual squares?
@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise

I've never used chenille fabric, Patricia, but it sounds awesome. What I've read is that it's very durable but nothing mentioned about fraying. It's widely used for upholstery so it should cut and sew relatively well. I would think that once it's sewn it should hold up well. Try a piece or two and if it does fray a lot, give yourself a 1/2-inch seam allowance to extra hold. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

The chenille I have is ribbed versus solid chenille (like you might find in a bathrobe) I’ll sew a few squares together & see if it will fray. Thanks for responding.
