Had an RPHA 10 Plus (Pro in the USA) previously. A superbly awesome helmet, even though it didn't fit my head shape 100%. Excellent quality, light, snug, works with you and you don't even feel like you're wearing a helmet. I can't comment on buffeting as I was on a naked bike at the time, but even then, get into a tuck and you immediately know that this is what it was made for. Had a Shoei X-Spirit 2 and now have a Bell Star Carbon. While these are great helmets, the RPHA 10+ brings something different to the table and for a lot less. I know many people look down on HJC as being a cheap brand but the only thing cheap about them are their prices. They have a diverse range of helmets at different price points, and are really worth a look at.

I have the Icon Variant Thriller and the Bell Vortex & RS1(down a rung and up one) I agree completely with the Variant being surprisingly good on the freeway and flowing good amounts of air, plus it goes on sale often ($150 for Thriller!). The Bells are very comfortable and the RS1 isn't very loud, but the Vortex is the loudest helmet I've ever owned (out of 10~ish). Can't wait to try an RHPA 10 or 11!

I like SHARP but 1) They only test UK-version helmets and 2) They do their testing based on UK crash stats which are quite a bit different than US crash stats. I check their site now and then but I never know if the Shoei sold in the US is the same exact lid as the Shoei sold in the UK. Maybe this is the wrong way to think about it but that's what I wonder about.

I tried an HJC many years ago. It was a nice helmet, but caused a wicked hot spot on my forehead after an hour or so of riding. Shoeis never did that, and I've bought them for decades for their quiet and comfort. Wait until the end of the season clearance sales and they get reasonably priced too. FTR, I've crashed and ruined a Shoei and an Arai and neither one of those accidents caused me any head injury whatsoever. The rest of me is another story... One thing that would have been interesting is a review of the peripheral vision. Shoei recently revised some of their lids to improve that aspect.

I'm a new rider, just got my license today! When I bought my helmet, I had one picked out from doing research online. Reality hit when I went into the store and tried it on. It felt terrible when I wore it. I ended up with an Arai XD4, not because I plan on doing adventure riding, but because it was the one that fit me well. I wear an xxl, so maybe that had something to do with the difficulty I had in finding a comfortable helmet.

Great review! I've not heard of the Qualifier, but the Bell Vortex is pretty similar by the looks of things. That's the one I own, in the Flack blue color. Great helmet, but also extremely loud. Unnecessarily so. Can't ride without earplugs. Besides that, the feature set-for-price ratio is why I bought it.

Great comprehensive review. Research has shown that a helmet's price doesn't correlate with protection, so I bought the Qualifier two years ago and couldn't be happier. It's definitely loud, but the rest is, as mentioned, excellent. As a side note, the shield mechanism is loud and rough in the beginning, but it gets _much_ smoother over time (without becoming loose). Mine is very easy to operate one handed, and has nice, clean, positive feedback. I compared it with a worn-in, entry level HJC and the Bell's feels significantly higher quality.

I also own a qualifier, and mine is ECE rated. there seems to be a mixup on which qualifiers are DOT or ECE rated. wind noise: very high, high enough to cause ringing after a freeway run especially from the small vents in the back, which would cause a whistle, so I silicone glued them closed, which cut a decent amount of noise. the shield was very loud at first as well, but mine also quieted down. the chin-bar vent does very little to prevent fogging. I seem to have an issue with fitting helmets for going full-tuck, so I'm limited there, but theoretically the helmet does fine, better when I wear my alpinestars leather jacket that has a low cut collar. comfort is great, and the top vents are very good for the summer.

Something I think people overlook for the street is the dirt bike style full face if you have breathing and/or fogging issues with a street style full face Where they don't have a shield and have bigger vents than a typical street style they breathe about like a 3/4 while protecting your face. About the only downsides are in looks weird wearing one on a street bike that isn't a dual sport and you need to wear goggles or glasses since it doesn't have shield

Snell won't even look at a helmet with an internal sun visor because it is assumed that there is a lack of structural integrity from the cavity. Shoei combats this by shoring up the gt-air in the visor compartment region. If snell were to take a look at it, it would likely pass. The same is true for modular helmets, which is why you'll never see a snell rated modular or drop down sun visor helmet. It doesn't mean the manufacturer hasn't taken steps to ensure that the helmet is just as safe.

Awesome reviews and videos, I'm surprised that this channel does not have more subs! Each video I've watched I've been impressed with: the depth and neutrality of the reviews, quality of the video, and the variety of products. May I suggest a review video that involves best/top helmet mods, or top safety mods for riding? The product that made me think of the suggestion is helmet lights, specifically the light kit from LightMode. Not only does it look neat but helmet lights drastically improve visibility for a rider at night, and so I think helmet lights would be a good addition to a video about safety or helmet mods. Keep up the good work!

I just bought a kabuto airoblade3. It was the ONLY helmet that didnt hurt my ears, and i could put my glasses on AND its pretty quiet. Light as a feather too. Feels MUCH lighter than the AGV K3 sv its replacing and sooo much lighter than my hjc max2 modular its not funny. I looked at the bell qualifier. It was $200 (im in 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👍🏿👍🏿) . I got my kabuto for $199 on special (retails for 430). For that i got a helmet that actually fit properly, has the snell cert AND ece AND austnz certification. So basically twice the helmet for the same money. And (can you believe this?) its the only green helmet i could find . It matches my kawasaki almost perfectly. Funny theyre THE green machine but noone makes helmets to fit that ethos.... Btw the venting is excellent. It blows a gale inside. Far superior to the agv and the hjc well...ive seen it said the venting on that is outstanding...compared to what? My 1985 Arai Racevent had better ventilation. Its pathetic. Nope gotta flip the lid or crack the visor. I get no air at all flowing thru it. Its ok tho i ony wear if to commute if i decide to ride. Its not my go to for weekend blasts.mthsts what the kabuto is for. Love ya work mate. Keep it up. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

it's stupid how motorcycle helmets fog up, it's unacceptable. The Soviets invented the TSO tubes that prevented their gas masks from fogging up, it was cheaper to produce than any other gas mask at the time, it had a longer shelf life, and was in many ways more effective as they didn't need to use antifog lenses and instead just used the intake air to normalize the temp of the air around the lenses. the same technology could be used in motorcycle helmets to prevent fogging and yet they don't

The only thing you missed is how quiet are they on the road at highway speed?

Ha at comparing the HJC to a GT-Air...the real comparison would be a RF1200 which the GT Air is based on. The 1200 is Snell rated and is lighter than the HJC. Seems like your list is a bit biased for some reason. Hmm.

not sure why you compared the rpha ten oposed to a gt air instead of an nxr witch would really be the same style.

the fortnine website redirected me to revzilla and showed me the hjc rpha 11 pro instead of the hjc rpha 10...

The hjc doesn't have the sun visor, emergency cheek pad removal or the ear recesses, there not competing then surely? The shoei has some big features that the hjc doesn't have. $300 is a bit steep though if I'm honest but that's more like £150 here in the U.K. So I think that's about right. I will add that I do have a gt air and after riding hjc and shark life it's by far the best quality kid I've ever owned.

Hi there and might I say very good review. Based on my independent research but also much due to your commentary, I purchased the excellent RPHA-10, and am glad I did. Thank you. Not having done it before, I am looking to mount a Sena or Cardo unit and am unsure of how to properly secure the speakers. You did mention that it was a bit easier with the Shoei Air, and in some helmets I noted circular spots reserved for this purpose. Any tricks you have for doing it correctly with the RPHA? Thanks again.

Very nice video but I think these are your favorite helmets you bought, and not real best helmets. I agree that HJC rpha 10 is awesome helmet, but Shoei GT air isn't the right competition for it. I own both RF 1200 and rpha10 and Arai RX-q and I prefer to ride with my HJC. The best thing about the rpha 10 is it has the smallest shell I've ever seen for a premium sportbike helmet cuz I hate looking like a bobble head. But who am I to say what's best, since it's mostly subjective topic.

Hey @FortNine I was just wondering, are there any BT integrated full faced helmets that you would recommend? I'm not sure of how many there are in the market nor which brands are of good quality. The only one I've heard of so far has been the BiLT, but with a lot of negative debates online. I love listening to music while I'm out riding, knowing the Sena is probably the best way to go in the meantime, I just wanted to here your thoughts on the available BT integrated helmets in the market right now. Thanks!!!

I'm not a huge fan of bluetooth-integrated helmets ... they try to do two jobs and don't fully succeed at either. My preference is to put an aftermarket system on an already-awesome helmet. As you'll see in my video of comm systems, I favour Cardo over Sena (kzitem.info/news/bejne/pWmJ3JV_hHOGgY4). The most *seamless* system is Schuberth's neck roll comm. It's almost like a BT-integrated helmet. But *very* expensive. ~RyanF9

Maybe those helmets are best in Canada, but in Europe all test are dominated by Schuberth S2 and SR2. What about Nolan, Shark, Shoei and Arai? This brands are much better than HJC or ICON.

Why do the HJC have Rs on the helmet but not any when I look them up on other websites?

Hey Ryan. Can you pls review Nolan N90-2. I'm confused if it is safe enough. By the way, your vlog is so useful ( the most comprehensive tests) and entertainments
