Go to the 12:00 mark. Notice that FRAME section at the front. I made a 3/8", 12"x12" plate that I bolted onto that so it hangs down and protects the front axle. Cheap trick that can save you lots of money if you drive over a large rock.

Nice video, these guards by 511 are top of the line quality and looks. Justin is great to deal with and earns his money fairly. They are expensive because they are the best of everything ,the same reason you bought a J Deere or Kubota. Everyone knows you get what you pay for . Of course my Dad has a farmers way of thinking. “I want it almost free, and don’t care what it looks like “ “just get it done and move on to another project ‘’ ha, and there is a lot of truth and logic to that view point also All depends on what you like in life Also , for installing by yourself , using clamps and a Sharpie to mark the drilling holes is much easier than the punch . Have fun, thanks for the video.

Courtney, I love your channel because it brings us cool new things to help us out for our tractors, but at $350, WAY TOO much!! I haven't had an issue yet damaging my grill but if I did, the new grill from JD is $80. Now I realize if you had a major issue, something could get through the grill and go beyond, but I figure that's even more rare. Maybe I'm just cheap, I don't know:-)
@GoodWorksTractors
3 жыл бұрын
$80 for the new grill screen from Deere? JD charges $5-8 for a bolt. It's a lot more than that for the replacement screen. Plus, this is precisely for major issues as you mentioned. What good does it do if you get it AFTER you have the major issue? 😂
@FloridaDeere

@@GoodWorksTractors Right on the bolts haha, I know I just looked it up, I've been wanting one of these but I admitted I was cheap. I do have friends that can weld very well, I may need to go that route LOL. The grill/screen was Green Parts was $79 and change, I was also kind of shocked it was that cheap as well. I figured it would have been close to the grill guard price knowing JD prices. I still liked the video though and I am still sad for Rosie and your family's loss.

Haha, I know it. Big difference in 1/8" primed and powdercoated steel vs that screen. Plus, it's a small business and currently includes shipping. Break down all the numbers and the price is reasonable. One week today since I lost my Rosie girl. Missing her like crazy every second of the day.

@@GoodWorksTractors It's especially hard when you have a job like yours and mine when you can spend more time with the dog, they become a much louder fixture of your life, then they are gone and there is a huge hole left by their absence. Use an 1/8th inch drill bit on speed 2 or 3 to get a hole through the steel, then when using a bigger bit use speed 1 and hold on tight. Sometimes I used the clutch setting on the drill so it doesn't spin out of my hands.
@guyprattii3115
3 жыл бұрын
As a machinist I could teach a class on feeds and speeds but I’ll try to keep it short. A simplified formula for drill speed in mild steel is 200/drill diameter. So for a 1/2” drill run it at 400 RPM. 1/8” drill run it at 1600 RPM. Also dipping the bit in a small cup of oil is a good was to oil. I would also drill one hole bolt the part up and mark another hole with your transfer punch. And keep doing that so all the holes line up.

Or mount the screen to the front with SS pipe straps over the crossbars. Maybe some rubber inside. HeavyHitch makes a front suitcase weight carrier. Not sure re FEL interface.

Our country has a mindset that we want Made in America, but at the same dollar store Chinese prices. Cheap and American are two words that don't belong together. Unfortunately, that behavior has been engrained in us for decades and will take just as long to reverse. It is very easy to add up the costs to get to this delivered pricepoint. American steel, American labor, design work, insurance, taxes, other overhead, machine costs, scrap, waste, marketing, packaging, credit card fees, shipping, profit.

The reason you see products developed for JD and Kubota first is due to the market size. There are many multiples of these two brands in the market compared to virtually everyone else out there. Once the large chunks of the market are covered, then there's time to branch out into the smaller pieces. Are you offering to send me all models of all tractors manufacturers or simply expecting me to cough up my own money for your benefit? Amazing how ungrateful people are these days. I have literally spent $50,000 or more buying two tractors just for a comparison video knowing I'll barely break even on it. The general public has no clue what goes into my business and all of the decisions made behind the scenes. Good luck on your unbiased channel featuring all tractor brands. It's so easy to do, takes no time, and is completely free. Entitlement at it's finest.
