I've been using Lowas for several years and its time for a new pair. Recently I've noticed the Hoka Anacapa and Kaha Gortex. What's attractive to me is the comfortable Hoka soles plus the light weight. Has anyone tried hiked with these carrying a 40-50 pound pack over a multi-day hunt in the mountains? I'm curious to learn if they can stand up to Lowas or Keens. I'm also interested in the Rocky hunting boot models. Anyone have experience with those?

Thanks for the info Eric. In the market for some shoes at the moment. You find trial runners are no good for cactus ? I guess getting through the shoe on the side or bottoms?

In these particular shoes, it was the all-around mesh uppers. They were like a magnet for burs, grasses, cholla...it just picked up everything I walked through and let it poke me in the top of the foot. I didn't have any issues with things coming up through the soles. If you really wanted to go with trail runners, I think I'd just try to make sure the uppers were something sturdier with more protection.

@@jasonbellows7 Lowa Camino is a great choice! I'm sure you will enjoy them! Only negative, is that those German boots insoles, never match the quality of those boots. That's an easy fix,If you get a proper insole and a good pair of shocks, you can make them feel like an athletic shoe!!
