What’s the angle that white river knives are made so we can sharpen them

Knives are hand sharpened on a belt at the manufacturer or here at Bear Claw. We use a slack belt for a slightly convexed edge. If you have a system that sets angles then I would suggest somewhere between 15 and 20 degrees on most hunters. A bit lower on the fillet knives. It really comes down to personal preference. The lower the angle, the sharper the edge but It won't stay sharp as long. He higher the angle, the longer the edge will last but it won't be as sharp. Consider the use and the type of steel and then experiment.

Thanks for the video Richard! Will you be at Blade Show Texas next year? If so, I hope to see you there. I don't know my booth number yet, but I will keep you updated, so maybe you can swing by and say hi!

I won't be there but Damien will be. I'll be in S.E. Asia visiting with some knife makers out there. Are you going to Atlanta? Richard
