I bought the GE Profile unit about 10 to 12 years ago. I have only had one repair visit on it so far and it was totally my fault. I dropped a large utensil l when I had the oven door open and was at the wrong angle for sure, it shattered the glass on the door. Our only functioning issue with induction has been due to different brand pots/pans and how the GE recognizes them. For example my all stainless ALL CLAD pans and cast iron pans worked from the beginning. Recently I bought some the top of the line nonstick Greenspan and they work on all burner, but the less expensive nonstick Greenspan pans are not recognized on the largest burner. I love how easy the stove is to use and clean and don't worry about the grandchildren around it as much. For us the GE Profile induction has been reliable. My husband had wanted to get the gas stove and now he his so happy we went with induction.

You said that an induction stove will need service within five years. What kind of service? Are you saying that five years is the mean time to a failure that needs repair, or is there some kind of maintenance that will need to be performed? We have the GE Cafe model you showed. So far we are happy with it but we have only been using it for a year so far. We have a large griddle for the bridge burners and I do like and recommend the bridge burners feature. One question... do any of the super-expensive models offer a griddle mode where a whole rectangle gets hot? On the Cafe, the griddle clearly is hotter directly over each burner. Viewing the griddle through an FLIR camera I can see two burner-shaped and burner-sized hot spots. If an expensive stove can make the whole griddle get evenly hot, that would be a great feature.

I have the GE Cafe CC2S950 gas range. From new(2020 or 2021), the front right burner on simmer up to number 2 setting where flame is still low would cause the sensor to think the flame is out and would activate all spark ignitions of all burners 1-2 times every minute. Cannot use it on simmer. Had tech out 3-4 times for this. They tried to add a ground cable to another burner (front left burner) and it seems to have helped. ALSO a very bad design flaw is that the exhaust vent for the oven, which operates when the oven is on and for several minutes after the oven is off, located at the rear right blows horizontally across the right two burners. If you are using those burners when the exhaust is operating, the blowing air will blow out the burners unless on medium to high flame. But then the flame is not uniform and dancing all over the place due to the exhaust air flow. To some extent, it also affects the flame on the middle burners. When the rear right oven exhaust is operating, I must use something thin and upright and police it at the rear of the right cast iron grate to block the airflow if using the burners on the right. The the exhaust will blow upwards. I use my stainless steel stove top round burner covers. No fix from LG.

Had a Samsung induction range, did not last 4 months. Built more like a Computer than a Range, induction electronics are not waterproof from water spills. Ovens vent has a printed circuit board beneath it. If water drips in it, short circuited with a massive arc flash while boiling water. Not well designed for cooking. Stay away from Samsung induction. Had to return it to costco.

Thoughts on the Smeg SPR30UIMX 30" induction range? It's on promotion (about 40% off) until the end of December, considering pulling the trigger on it prior to starting my kitchen renovation because I can't find anything else in my budget that looks as good with a minimal footprint. Love the physical knobs and minimal digital controls (hoping to avoid costly repairs, as much as one can). Coming in at about half the price of my top choice (Fisher & Paykel). Thanks!

Our first induction stove was a single hub Frigidaire 120Vac countertop on clearance at Lowes that I bought because I was curious about induction cooking & gave it to kids to use while in they're university. It outperformed our old electric range !! LOL. . Decided to take the plunge & bought Samsung NE599N1PBSR including extended warranty back in year 2013. Loved the performance & feature of able to split the oven in half, BUT !!!, it didn't make it through the first year; it needed two repairs under warranty and third repair under extended warranty. Took a big loss & got rid of it in 2015. 😡😡 . Purchased Bosch HIIP054C slide-in induction and yes, "knock on wood" no repair to this date. 👍👍👍 to Bosch Induction Range !!

I bought the Samsung, the 11 inch Bruner only has an 8 inch induction coil. So they are lying by drawing an 11 inch circle. I can see hot spots on my 12 inch pan. How can we as consumers verify these claims before buying? It seems all articles and guides just go on posted features and not actual testing. Even consumer reports doesn't actually test. Thank you for your videos, they are quite valuable.

@@YaleAppliance1 how many stores do you think have a dozen 240v/40a circuits hooked up for ranges to be active? Never mind the costs think of the risk. There are zero stores in Toronto that have active ranges to test with. I've been to all the big box stores, and a dozen smaller retailers. Do your stores have active ranges to test?

As in the units are failing to regulate voltage internally, or are they failing due to volatile source voltages? If the latter it would be interesting to find out if there's a variance between installs in homes with/without whole home surge suppression.

The burner complement you describe in spoken word is not the same as the displayed text. Is is 1x3700, 2x2500, 1x1800,1x100 (graphic) , or 1x4300, 1x3200, 2x1800, 1x100 (spoken word)? Also your words are often slurred - I would guess because as part of your job you have to say the same thing many times - but here on the video I can't ask you to repeat yourself. You are an expert in your field and I and others listen to you intently for advice, so please edit your videos before posting :-) Thanks for your media work, regardless :-)

So Miele, at that price point, has a horrible pixelated display. Cell phones come with better displays. There's absolutely no value in their premium price because everyone else uses the same technology. Absolutely nothing justifies their price point.
