@@ferelcopter5126Well, not really. In this case, it can be pretty similar, but when it comes to discoloration, sometimes even skin texture (more/less noticeable depending on the skin tone), etc. it can be very different. The medical field lacks examples of many conditions on darker skin, so the care providers *and* the patients often have trouble identifying the skin issues they may be faced with. The comment wasn’t *only* referring to *this* example particularly, but was also a comment to be taken at large with the rest of skin ailments and more severe skin issues.

When I was a teenager all we had was benzoyl peroxide and it would make it a hundred times worse by drying it out. When sailor static acids started more openly hitting the market it was a godsend because the Clean and Clear night Advantage gel is now the only thing that will get rid of my cystic acne within 24 to 48 hours
@mileaposdaughter

Well you can't just use benzoyl peroxide on its own, it has bleaching and drying properties of course it'll dry out. You gotta add a good moisturizer after using it in any form. I just using it not even a month ago and it already helped with my body aches and hyper pigmentation. It also lessened body odour. It's not bad at all if used with right way.

Had this back in 2020-21 and suffered along with cystic acne. Idek how but I started breaking out so badly all of a sudden. I tried so many things both cosmetics and from the pharmacies, idek which one worked for me but they faded away. And no I won't say salicylic acid because I used up one whole 300ml bottle and they did nothing for my skin. I'm just thankful they're gone now and I only have slight texture and the occasional hormonal acne which I use spot treatment for with benzoyl peroxide, and I use niacinamide and retinol to help with the few texture.

I started getting bouts of reaaaaally severe hormonal cystic acne last year after never having a pimple in my life (and then was diagnosed with PCOS) and yeah, nothing worked. Nothing. I cannot tell you the amount of products I tried that didn’t work or the amount I had to cut out of the skincare routine that had been working for me for years! It’s hormonal for me and frustratingly nothing topical can change hormonal fluctuations. I used retinol for years and had to stop because it was too irritating. The only thing that calms it down during occasional flares (so painful 😢) is using zinc heavy moisturisers or nappy rash cream! There was nothing wrong with my routine before, the only thing I’ve changed (apart from having to cut so many products out) is using an LED mask consistently and maintaining my skin barrier like my life depends on it. I still get flares now and then and the scarring it’s left me with is a whole other kettle of fish!

I had "acne" on my forehead for years, and turns it, it was from yeast (aka, fungal). My sister told me to get dandruff shampoo and apply it to my forehead, and now my forehead is 100% clear, but i have to use it regularly to keep it that way. The hormonal acne on my jawline, however, does not respond to it, because that acne is not fungal. Proactiv really helps, but I'm looking for other products for those lingering bumps and to help with redness on my face due to old acne and just general UV and aging issues.

So cool, I have this type of acne. My dermatologist was a little clueless, she put me on 20% Retinol and then she would do facials to squeeze my pimples. That did not help long term, so she then put me on Roaccutane (Isotretinoin), this one did help me, along with the facials, to remove those pimples, but my skin was as dry and dull as it could get. Now I am 25 and my hormones are much better (I think my acne is hormonal, not sure if all acne cases are), I get occasional comedones, I just do my usual skincare routine (it includes Vitamin C and Salicylic Acid). My skin is better, but I have some scars from the acne.

I’ve had these for years! My dermatologist used to prescribe salicylic acid for me and it worked, but as soon I finished the treatment it reappeared. I kept going back, I’ve tried sulfur, tretinoin, ketoconazole shampoo, topical antibiotics, my skin care routine was on point. But as soon as the prescription skin care was up, I would get the acne once again. I finally tried azelaic acid (recommended by another derm) which I think also helped. But the major thing I found was that I never thought of changing my sunscreen, that had been a common denominator all along. 🤦🏻♀️ It’s now been a couple of years and I’ve never had anything like that anymore. Azelaic acid worked for me, but make sure to consult your dermatologist and do check for any products that could be breaking you out.

Same goes for tea tree oil, it’s too drying and although it seems like your acne is gone, it is actually hidden deeper beneath the skin, making it harder for these gunk to fully come out. Is this true?
