For rappel or tether rope, this is fine. But you want run a stiffer, thicker rope for your Linesman.

A little too concerning for me that WLR does NOT consider this lineman's rope a life safety device, and it seems to be recommended as a back up only. Safety first, so I wouldn't trust my life with this as a lineman's rope.

Will this be the only rope you’re using with that killdeer setup? Is there another that performs like a tether ?

I will use this as my lineman’s belt and then I have an amsteel tether. I always keep two options on me so I can go around limbs if needed.

Great review but mine is different than yours. Yours has a big loop so you can easily pass your carabineer through. Mine has a tiny loop. So the only way I could girth hitch the left side on is if I disconnect the carbineer from the loops every time. Pretty annoying

@@reviveoutdoors4him you girth hitched the rope to your saddle on your left side. The loop in your rope looks to be 5 inches wide or more. Mine only has maybe an in wide gap. So I cannot pass the carbineer through it to girth hitch it

@@Deerpoo22 I just leave mine attached to my left side at all times. Then stuff it in my left pouch when not in use. Are you wanting to take it completely on and off each time you use it?

Dude the whole idea of the other rope is it’s stiff and heavier so you can “throw” it up when ascending, if you just value tiny use fishing line.

Can this be used as a tether? I hunt with a rock climbing harness so it wouldn’t be tight it would need to take shock with a fall.

@reviveoutdoors4him

@@huntingmississippi3113 it’s not rated for the force of a fall. In short, a lineman’s belt fall when ascending/descending is less force than a tethered fall in the stand.

300 pounds is the working load limit (WLL), not the minimum breaking strength (MBS), which typically has a 10:1 safety factor applied to it, so the minimum breaking strength is actually 3,000 pounds. But in order to qualify for fall protection certification, is has to be able to withstand at least 5,000 pounds of force.
