@@BicycleTouringExplorer We're obviously biased, but we love putting droppers on all of our rides! We think having a dropper post on touring, gravel, and road bikes helps take things to the next level in regards to fun, but also makes them safer when we're cornering, starting, or coming to a stop. Our Rainier 27.2 is a great option for bikes where a longer travel dropper post won't fit.

27.2 external is a tough dropper to find with a fair price and reliability. PNW seems to have nailed it. I’m pretty sure when my KS eTen Breaks for good, I’m moving to this 120mm dropper!

In the middle of my install now. I just picked up the Cascade with Loam lever for my Chromag Stylus. So far, I am impressed with the build quality. I can’t wait to get it all together and out on the trails.

One thing to note is it's best to set the reach adjust screw on the lever before you clamp down the cable, else you risk the dropper post being activated as you wind out the lever.

The external dropper post doesn't look as bad as the older external. I was thinking this wire hanging from the back of the saddle. At least the mechanism is at the lower end of the post. I have internal routing but the cable has to come out close to the seat tube (so the bike shop says) however I am not new to the sport so I think this routing can be done internally or externally. If I go with the external routing I think this is the option. Like I said it doesn't look bad.

7:27 I am sure you meant dropper post lever, not brake lever. I got E Thirteen TRS dropper post now, it's not perfect, It has play in every direction, but I wanted ease of service, it's completely mechanical. E*thirteen has adjustment of the lever position, but it's done differently, there is a channel in the round thing, and lever is clammed and you just slide it and tighten it to desired position. this is how that looks like: flic.kr/p/2bXcnk3 but their way of doing it does not effect the wire pull, so when adjusting the wire does not get pulled or loosened like shown at 7:20. But E 13 don't have this size nor external dropper post. But the external part of the PNW dropper looks quite robust.

You would need to email PNW. I'm only saying that because some of their droppers do come with levers (not this one but still a pretty nice one) but I'm not sure if all do. I don't want to miss inform you. Aaron from PNW will get back to you fast and is a great guy!

If you want to save a Benjamin, for $108 you can buy a Brand-X Ascend II, which is a rebranded PNW (Pine or Cascade depending on your seat tube size): www.chainreactioncycles.com/us/en/brand-x-ascend-ii-105mm-125mm-dropper-seatpost/rp-prod159176 Making the Brand X the new "Best low cost dropper" Nice to see the Loam installed with this. I will run my Brand X 27.2 with a Wolftooth Remote. RGMB do you have a remote preference PNC Loam vs WT remote? Great job on the video Thanks!

So sorry I missed this comment! The KZitem spam collector snagged it because there was a link. I run both remotes and really can't pick one over the other. This is totally not a sales response because I work with both companies. Bottom line, they are both built solid and are so smooth. WT has two options so if you are into a longer or shorter lever then that might be the way to go. PNW is built like a freaking sexy tank and I would have zero issues recommending either. The only thing I wouldn't do is run a WT against a PNW dropper. That's just bad juju HAHAHAHA!
