Unfortunately your spot is not good for this rig. I catch monster snappers with that rig in my area

In Australia we call that rig a running sinker rig. There is a veriation where instead of attaching the sinker on the main line we use a swivel and a length of line to create a drop sinker but it still can run up and down the main line. This version we call a western port rig, its better in very high current and keeps your bait off the bottom a little. I use a running clip swivel so i can interchange sinker size or change to a drop sinker.

How can I do this if current is slightly faster and water is a little deeper? I try for this and it seems to just drift before it gets to bottom

I’m trying to figure out how that size egg sinkers drifts down stream while your popping that your bait, and you are parallel of the downstream ??? The bait & sinkers is coming back to the boat… unless I’m misunderstanding.I cast with the same rig but cast downstream & pop up stream & catch fish like Jesus disciples did with the fishing net 😂
@JFunk717

The current pushes the bait fish a certain direction. Anything facing or traveling the wrong direction, is bad presentation. Not saying it never works, but it doesn’t look natural. The method in the video looks like a fish fighting the current and losing…
@PRINCE_175

@@JFunk717 I understand but your egg sinker looks like a 2 or 2 1/2 oz that tells me that the water isn’t that deep,even though that current must be strong where are you are to push that egg sink or like that because here in Georgia we use that size for cat fishing…..and it just sits there….even in a lite moving water…not saying it not possible but I would love too see that
@JFunk717

He’s fishing an inlet. Tides get to ripping hard and fast at times. That sinker won’t hold well in strong current, but it will still sink and keep your bait facing the right direction.
@JFunk717

Keep doing what you find works for you. If you’re catching fish, you’re doing fine! The only thing I would be concerned about is in your presentation, your bait is “winning” against the current, whereas in real life, the bait fish don’t win against the current.

@@BreakitDownBarneyStylelooks smaller than 2 oz, not sure. Crazy thing is that tied will drag a 2 oz top and bottom rig as well. The major difference is that fish doesn’t feel the weight. That should be emphasized more.
