Conventional flat spin: upright flat and level flight, lower throttle adding up elevator (but not climbing, just maintain altitude as it slows), as it noses over (stalls from low speed) bury both tx sticks bottom left or bottom right. Slowly ease the ailerons to the opposite direction to flatten the spin. Sometimes a bit of tinkering with throttle while in the spin can flatten it more. Opposite rudder and throttle to exit with a stubborn plane. On some older designs with tiny rudders a shovel and a bag may have been handy due to a lack of exit potential… Inverted flat spin: same thing but from inverted. After the stall hold full down elevator and OPPOSITE aileron/rudder directions. Slowly ease the ailerons in the opposite direction again to flatten it. Other ways may work but this will work with the best results plus it’s the “contest” routine. Be a pro!

My little trick for permanently attaching problem wheel pants is Loon Fly tying UV curable adhesive. Its like crazy glue but flexible. You put a drop on your intended glue point, hit it with a black light for a few seconds and you are good to go! I've used it on my Hobby Zone Carbon Cub and it has never failed. (And no ugly zip ties!) You can get the glue with a black light or separately.

Awesome video guys. Thank you, I have to say that I own larger planes and love them all. However, with the little time I have to go and spend the whole day out flying has been hard. These little guys (UMX) have landed on my radar. I love that I can fly them just about anywhere, don't need a lot of open space, and so cost effective even if they get damaged. I'm starting to look into building a full UMX hangar as they will surely be used alot more than my big planes at this point.

The flying wires look a little loose, but I think that helps inverted flight by flexing the dihedral out of the lower wing when inverted. Nice flying plane... classic looks. Great Sunday flyer on 2s with light wind. Good stunt plane on 3s but flat spins are... well ... darn near impossible. I will keep inching the battery back but not ideal for flat spins. Not enough prop blast on the ailerons perhaps?

I've been in and out of the hobby for years. Recently I'm back in and I have been watching tons of videos over the last few months. This channel has the some of the best video footage. Most RC airplane videos are videos of the sky despite knowing there is an airplane there somewhere cause I saw it take off. Very few channels manage to actually capture the aircraft flying in a meaningful manner like this channel does.
@johnriddlebarger6335

Very nice plane. Nice flying characteristics. Very stable. I fly the plane on safe mode with 3s and it is very fast. Be sure and have a large field for the safe feature. Plane is definitely for intermediate flyers due to its small size and fast speed. Make sure that the control surfaces are bone straight. A slight deviation will drastically effect the flight of the plane. To trim out the plane, you may need to bend the pushrods with needle nose pliers. Just a slight bend is all that I needed. Hand launches are a snap with the 3s batteries at full throttle. I also liked the P-51 by Volantex but the electronics did not last that long for me. My P-51 only lasted a few months. Also, the P-51 uses that bendable foam. The Pitts foam is not bendable and cannot sustain a hit to the ground at all. This detail makes the plane an intermediate plane. However, the Pitts is a better brand and uses a better transmitter (I use a Spektrum DX 6e transmitter). I suspect the Pitts will last longer than the Volantex P-51. Highly recommend for intermediate pilots.

Salutations RC Sailors! I just recently purchased this version of the UMX Pitts Special, thanks to the Tower Hobbies link that you provided in an earlier video, and after having the earlier version for more than seven (7) years I was really happy to see that they had re-released this aircraft and made some improvements, mainly the addition of 3s capabilities instead of just the 2s battery, which barely enabled me to fly for five minutes unless I restricted my flight envelope, but it is so tempting to push the flight envelope with this airplane, that I often had to land before I wanted to. I gathered, from this video, that I will have a much more forgiving flight envelope and will enjoy flying this plane for a greater duration flight before having to land and then installing another battery, to continue flying. This has been one of my favorite UMX planes to fly and I am looking forward to better weather soon to go flying again this year. I reckon that I will have to pick up a few more 3s batteries now, because I only ordered one 3s battery with the plane. Thanks for posting these videos! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨✈️

@mikecarbone828

@@moistpoptart You could use either of those two transmitters or these would work as well: DX6e-6, NX6 6 channel DXMX, DX8e- 8 channel DSMX, NX8- 8 channel DSMX, NX6 6 channel DSMX transmitter with AR6610T Telemetry Receiver. There are also a few other transmitters that would work, but these are all the most relevant ones for this particular airplane. I hope you find this useful, the Horizon Hobby site provides all of the necessary information and offers a wide variety of transmitters and other equipment needed to fly this aircraft. @mikecarbone828
Жыл бұрын
@@moistpoptart That transmitter that you have will not be compatible with the UMX- Pitts Special. I would definitely recommend that you pick up one of the Spectrum transmitters that I listed earlier, if you are just getting started with RC flying, I wouldn’t bother with the eight channel transmitters, most of the Spectrum 6 channel transmitters will do most of the things you will need them to do, however having one that can track telemetry and battery information may be worth the extra expense, however, I just use a timer to remind me to bring the airplane in for a landing before the battery gets too low on power, and begins to pulse, which indicates that it is low, and this can damage the battery when this occurs, however, I haven’t had a chance yet to use the newer Smart batteries, but my next flight I will be testing one out. Our host seemed to be able to fly for at least ten (10) minutes with the 3s battery, but he was getting cold and decided to land and leave the field before he had gotten full use of the battery, but my experience with the 2s batteries is that you must finish by five (5) minutes or less depending upon how much power you have consumed. I hope you have a great flying experience. Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨✈️

Ok, looked again. This is probably a question for Horizon CS as I don’t ever use that charger. I’m not suggesting you buy a new charger, but my guess is the JST plug may be throwing it off? I would think it could charge that with No Problem. Sorry I wasn’t more help.

I think some of our first RCs were purchased on that site. I’ll have to take another look and see if they have anything unique. Thanks for reminding me about them!

@@TheRcSaylors Well they do have 1/7 scale for Okay money. I was always interested in the Savage Clone. Thank you for not deleting comment/question. Their stuff is pretty low cost. Just don't see a lot of videos about them.

How on earth do you endorse this model? This s has got to be the cheapest built model EVER! The foam they use is the same low grade quality as gas station coffee cups. both wings snapped after my soft maiden landing with ZERO forgiveness. 2 out of 10
