The sennheiser sounds very pleasing to the ears. Its the one i like the sound the most.

I have to agree. It's been with me for years and have no plans to get rid of it. :)

Very informative video, thank you for making this! I wish I would have found this before I got my current setup for trying to get into streaming. Right now, I have an Audiotechnica AT2020 (the XLR version) paired with the Audient ID4 MKII, and while everything is still cranked up, it's hard to get anyone to hear me who listens to the stream. Output's cranked all the way up, I'm speaking clearly and close to the mic, phantom power is turned on and the cables work properly, but it just isn't doing what I want. Had to plug it in to VoiceMeeter Banana to crank up the volume even further, and it still struggles to work at a decent output volume for me. Might give a different mic a shot that you recommended for the budget mics and see how that goes instead! I want to make KZitem videos in the future, so it's a good investment to make sure everything's in order for me.

That's odd, I would think that Audient ID4 would have enough juice to properly drive the AT2020. Maybe test this setup on another PC to make sure it's the interface and not some driver issue?

First I was like: duuuudeee, why are you clipping so much, at least get a compressor, then I was like: oooooh.

Can you maybe explain why a dynamic mic (like shure sm58) is a bad fit for this setting? I have no clue as I only have experience with recording/live music

It's a matter of preference I guess. Dynamic microphones are usually less detailed but in return you get better ambient sound rejection. Also, you pretty much need them very close to the source, so there isn't many dynamic shotgun microphones. I prefer super detailed, bright microphones and am willing to invest extra time to do some post processing (de-noise) and some money to treat the room acoustically to minimize reverb.

Thanks for this video Tomaž, I’m going to look into the Neumann. What should I use to connect it to my MacBook?

If you ever need to plug in only one mic, then I'd go with Focusrite Solo (4th gen was literally released a couple of weeks ago) or any of their other interfaces that support multiple microphones. If you plan to do any kind of podcasting, then Rode Rodecaster series is what you want. And finally, if you want all in, RME Babyface Pro FS is the way to go. Thanks Silvan! :)

Thanks for your quick reply @@tomazzaman . Will look into these options and let you know what I ended up going with.
