I’m putting together a black metal themed pedal board and this is exactly the aesthetic I was looking for. Thank you for the video sir 🤘

Full agree! The best noise gate. Good video, good explanation.

Certainly helps both to cut extraneous amp/pedalnoise and as a tool to augment/aid your playing stye which is by nature very aggressive, and chopped (metal) style. How does the gate respond to clean tones, and a more classic rock type OD applications both on chords, sustained notes and riffs?

Thanx for this review. How does the pedal in the fx loop of the amp work out if you switch from high gain ch. to the clean ch. ? Does it cut off the sound or dynamics?

FortressBlackHC Havent really noticed any change in dynamics, its very transparent and fast, and notes sustain nicely. Especially works well when used with Key In to trigger gate opening / closing. But I’ll do another video with more extreme settings of noise, as well as switching between clean and gain channels :)

is it possible to run all your dirt pedals through the key in , key out (lets call it send and return loop) of this pedal itself? i.e like the boss NS2 or TC sentry it has its own send and return that you can loop you dirt or noisy pedals through ?

thehoppo so the key in and out - are unaffected by the pedal, they’re used to trigger the pedal (open or close gate depending on signal). So when the pedal is engaged, its listening on Key In the noise of other pedals, and then affecting whatever signal is coming in regular Input (one on the side). So, in general, its not going to affect signal coming Key In and Out, but the pedal will use that signal to open or close gate (hope that make sense). Thats why its powerful, since it reads clean signal of the guitar and filters things - knowing when you’re chugging, when sustaining notes etc, and then clamps down the signal out of amp or pedals.

Unfortunately, Lichtlaerm Audio no longer exists. But, the guy that was making these pedals and designing them, moved to be an engineer at KMA Pedals, and I'm pretty sure some variation or even improved version of this pedal and other pedals of his will be released by them :) I'm still holding onto this one though, haven't found better noise gate yet, I guess until he designs a new one I won't be switching. You can try finding one on the used market, but they're rare, everyone keeps them ...

@@PetarMakesNoise I'm coming from the future (present future lol) to tell you that Daniel had a touch in the development of KMA Pylon, although when I asked about it through a facebook thread many seemed to prefer the Key&Gate while advising me against the Pylon. I think Daniel is back to his former game ! Thanks for the nice job, cheers from Morocco

@@asmaambarki4932 yep!! all true what you said :) Daniel is back to his own company and designs, and even improved on Key and the Gate. For me though, I don’t have that much time anymore to play with my amps, so I’ll wait on buying new version, since original one works like a charm and still unmatched by competitors :) Cheers!

They did, and I tried it and returned it the next day. It's the pylon by kma, and the noise it makes alone is terrible. Stick with the gate and key. 😅

????? I'm only at the 3 minute to 4 minute mark, but there's such a minor amount of noise in that chain so what's the point?
@mattvdh

what's the point? well firstly, noise fatigues your ears so you won't be able to play for as long, and 2. when you are recording 2-4 guitar tracks, the noise adds up/accumulates and your recordings will sound noisy. It's kind of an obvious answer
