When donating standard equipment to the vet ladies in Fiji makes them cry that’s pretty sad. It’s good, but it’s just hard to face the reality that not everywhere is as lucky to have all those things that you see as just something that’s just a door away and have tons of in the closet. I hope that makes sense. It’s good to see y’all donating your time as well as those needed supplies. Oh 😕 when that young girl cried when the anaesthetist was gruff with her (he seemed displeased with doing an injection by hand) was so sad. I understand that he wanted to just knock Aysha out without fuss. BUT - in the end, he actually decided that he didn't want to even give the tiger the full dose anyway - so had they did the dart anaesthesia, they likely would've given her more than necessary (coupled with the fact Aysha was already a strange breather) - things might've gone pear shaped!

The lady worked so hard with the tiger, she looked so sad when the guy made that comment, "that's the problem with only half injecting", he way he said it and the look he gave her, must've broke her. I could only imagine the pain the felt. It's not even her fault though. Tigers are intelligent, and it knew something was up. They should've had Chris do it. I think he was mostly upset with himself and the situation, but it's clear he didn't make that known to Caz at that moment. This is why we have a clear "no name-and-shame" policy at my workplace. Since we put that in place, people are much more open about their own mistakes and a lot less critical about when things go wrong. That fluid from the hamster’s lump looks exactly like the fluid that was aspirated on 3 different occasions from a lump I had on my breast. Each time it came back, it came back smaller. The last time, the doc injected a tiny bit of air which he said would hopefully irritate the sack & cause the body to absorb it so it wouldn’t fill up again. It worked. that doctor that sassed the trainer is a real piece of work. watching the procedure... it worked. it didnt work the way everyone thought itd work, but it worked. the whole goal was to minimize stress while putting the tiger under. and thats exactly what happened. partial injection and risks or not, it worked. Charlotte's training wasnt all for nothing. i think that doctor was so keen on it not working that the moment it didnt go exactly the way it was planned he wanted to remark about how OBVIOUSLY it wouldnt have worked... when it really did work, just differently. it wasnt a fail in the slightest. i may just be a viewer, but I'd say it was a huge success and was a factor in how smooth the procedure went on the old girl.

And I've always thought Scott was excellent. So glad Asia did well. And the girl who trained her to follow commands to get her treats is really a genius. Chris and Lisa made me smile, just as always. And reuniting Alison and Audrey made me teary. The best 50 minutes on KZitem!
@crystalfranklin2583

I completely agree with Charlotte. Animals should not be kept in zoos and cages for our entertainment and amusement. The only reason they should ever be kept is to help sick or injured animals or to preserve the species if they're endangered. And, even then, once they've recovered, if they recover to the point that they can survive in the wild, they should be released back into their natural habitat. If they are unable to survive in the wild, it's better if they're kept, but otherwise, we just shouldn't remove them and cage them.

That hamster cage is atrocious. I hope that’s just the transport cage because that is totally unacceptable for a hamster of any size. Even a dwarf. As a vet who deals with all kinds of animals, I feel like proper living conditions would be known of, but I guess since hamsters aren’t allowed in Australia, that he doesn’t really have to know. It’s still kinda like a “duh” thing though. Any search engine can tell you all about it, so I feel like there’s no excuses. Please do your research before bringing an animal into your life.

The problem with the way the tiger was trained is she’d never been actually pricked. Many zoos are able to train animals to participate in voluntary blood draws. The combination of not being given a treat upsetting and confusing her with the pain of the injection did them no favors.

These people love their hamster and I suppose in many countries this is just what people think is normal, but it's not. A well kept hamster has thick, shiny fur, clear eyes, ears standing up, curious look - not this lethargic and sickly appearance. Poor, suffering creature. Please give hamsters a large enclosure, so he doesn't have to feel trapped and bite the bars, lots of bedding to dig in, a large wooden house, a big wheel and free roaming time.
