Great video. If you have any concerns about gimble durability on the lite radio 3 check out the 1hr extreme gimble stress test done by Old Bee FPV.

Or maybe bad spi? It binds and arms but won’t go more than 10 ft. Shows an LQ of 7? Not 6. Have it at 2k loop. But the controller won’t show a module when plugged into configurator

@@trotter_mac in theory it should work using the CRSF protocol, however you probably have power output issues where the slim pro may be set on a high output power but isn’t receiving enough volts from The LR3. Have you switched the radio from internal to external module using the bind button and power button then connected to the Configurator?

@@DarrenAllatt yeah, that sounds like it could be the issue maybe a bad firmware update. My module lights up blue and sorta of slow flashes, if that means anything (power output? Or just connect) but I’m kinda lost as to messing with the power output over there on module/ELRS config. No idea how to check what it’s on currently

If you want to run ELRS 2.0 on the BetaFPV Lite Radio 3 or Lite Radio 2 SE, here is a link to the pre-release firmware. github.com/BETAFPV/LiteRadio_PLUS/files/7827204/LiteRadio_2_SE_V2_SX1280_2.0.0_RC1.zip This is found on the following issue on Github: github.com/BETAFPV/LiteRadio_PLUS/issues/2 *Release Notes* This is pre-release firmware from BetaFPV and if you flash it to your Lite Radio 3 it will disable the ability to use the External Module Bay. You can use this on your Lite Radio 2 SE.

I've pre-ordered the Zorro with the 4 in 1. Why? Because I think external ELRS modules are mature and tested while internal modules are not. This said I'm scared because these companies usually release a beta version to the public... Hope they won't and if they do.... well... I should have known best. BtW Zorro = plastic gimbals

I pre-ordered the Zorro too, but with internal elrs. Then canceled the order after 1 day of really thinking about it. New versions always have issues and I don't feel like being a tester. I'll wait until I see all the usual reviewers videos on it. But, if it is what it is supposed to be, It might be the perfect small controller.

For most users who only ever use the JP4in1 to bind with FRSKY, it's really a waste of money when the CC2500 is more than capable for FRSKY binding. The JP4in1 only makes sense if you still have a bunch of DSM/DSMX or FlySKY based quads. That being said, with ELRS 2.0 you can set it to invert the TX signal and connect to an SBUS pad, which means you can upgrade those old receivers. You are only caught out if those old quads are whoops. You probably could have bought either the CC2500 or the JP4in1 for the Zorro and still connected an External ELRS module. Internal v External ELRS and whether the modules are tested does depend on your use case. For Freestyle & Racing there is no additional risk of going for an internal module. For BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) then I'd also want to mitigate the risk with an External module, but going 900mhz. I'd keep 2.4ghz internally for Racing and Freestyle and 900mhz externally for BVLOS. Yes, the Zorro and all those budget radios have "plastic gimbals" that's just the construction (to save cost) and not how they register stick input. Stick input, regardless of construction is either registered through a potentiometer or a hall effect sensor (magnet). Most people think that metal or CNC gimbals mean you have hall effect and that plastic ones can't be hall effect, truth is, by the time the manufacturer spends money on making a CNC gimbal, the cost is already there so for a marginally more amount they add the hall effect sensor.

@@DarrenAllatt I'd get the 4in1 over the CC2500 just cause sometimes on banggood the dsm or flysky micro drones are cheaper by like $20!. So the little extra cash upfront could end up saving you a bunch of cash in the end if you buy alot of different Micro's..
@DarrenAllatt
2 жыл бұрын
@@JP-qq2kn Right now, finding a Micro on any store with FlySky or DSM/DSMX that is in stock is extremely rare. Manufacturers stopped producing them in mid-2020 because of a low number of sales from a very low user base. It's also an added expense to produce 3 boards with 3 different receivers when components are getting more expensive. What you will find is manufacturers will probably by the end of 2022, stop producing FRSKY based SPI receivers and just go with ELRS, then there are FRSKY licensing issues. It's also why manufacturers are all now producing their own ELRS transmitters and receivers, they will be moving users from FRSKY to ELRS because it's free and more profitable for them. For Micro;s from a pure cost perspective, they will produce the one board with an SPI based ELRS receiver and then provide a Crossfire option, which the CRSF Nano will be wired onto a UART.

@@DarrenAllatt I'd also recommend the 4 in 1 over the cc2500 because of redpine 😇 For the plastic gimbals, I get the point... and have dropped a number of radios. Plastic gimbals maybe cheaper, they're likely also less robust. Happy to ear if you did some involuntary drop tests 😁
