I got the Bose 700 in that beautiful pink soapstone and they are exceptional. Half the time that I wear them I’m not even listening to music, I’m listening to the silence the noise canceling provides. Their ability to block out the noisy world has done wonders to help with my ADHD, when I have to work in a noisy office and need to focus. Also when you have the noise canceling on full on an airplane and then you take them off, it’s alarming how loud airplanes really are.

🤦To be honest Ima hard EDM listener and producer ... My experience with Bose as for edm songs and live sets is not satisfying - 1. Lacks The low end ( sub bass ) : EDM is all about sub bass , it barely has sub ... If you listen some Nicky Romero stuff , you will find it not energetic and lack of low ends .... Cuz , it won't give you the energy of Sub 2. Not Clean Kick : if you like Super tight and clean sounding kick ... It will disappoint you, kick drum sounds flat and compressed 3. You won't enjoy house music like Protocol Radio , Armin Van Buren , David Guetta ....

The thing for me is I can't justify 200+ or more for headphones no matter how good the sound is. I tried to go high end once and just like virtually every other headphones I've owned they broke within a year. Headphones just don't last up long enough to make an investment like that worthwhile. Maybe I've been EXTREMELY unlucky (wouldn't be the first time) but with the exception of one or two that's always been my experience. I use them more then your average person but I'm not rough with headphones like throwing them around or whatever. Unless you count laying on your side in bed. If I didn't have ear canal problems I'd probably go in ear exclusively but for comfort reasons I have to do headphones.

Technics!!!!!!! These are reviewed as superior to the Sonys overall by a fair amount. Used Sony XM3s seem the best for the price. Bose 700 don't seem durable, click when walking, the app didn't work for a long time for many people, and people report more cabin pressure from all the Bose than Sony. JBL 660NC seem to be the best value new and used. I ordered the JBL and Sony to test and will return one of them. But none of these will sound as good as non noise cancelling open back headphones or closed back from Audio-Technica. But noise cancelling is better if someone can only have one pair because they protect people from raising the volume and losing their hearing. But I would tell people to save for the Technics. And until they can afford them buy open box JBL or Sony XM3s on ebay.

Can’t agree with you regarding your negativity around Bose QC45’s…ANC, Bluetooth connectivity and (for me at least) sound are definitely superior to QC 35 II’s (which are already great cans). I also had Bose 700’s, sent back due to discomfort and click of metal headband arm on cups as I walked (well documented). 700’s sound was great but for me, no better than QC 35 II’s. Plenty of well qualified Audiophiles review sound of QC45’s superior to 700’s…just demonstrates sound is a totally subjective variable to each individual. Nice review anyways….

As with every review of headphones/earbuds I‘ve ever seen, I don‘t know how to transfer your findings to my experience. I listen more or less exclusively to classical music - opera, symphonic, occasionally chamber music. My instincts tell me the demands on the headphones will be different. One big point: Everyone talks about „the bass“ in headphones/earphones. That indicates to me that everyone is testing the headphones with „pop“ music (I don‘t like the term, either, but it is useful here, I think). I suppose I could try to find some reviews for classical music; surely they exist.
@MikeWal2
2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't consider using Bluetooth headphones for classical music (same mix as you but the order being Symphony; Concerto; opera; chamber music) so while I have unnecessarily many good Bluetooth noise-reduction headphones for other use, for classical I use an old Sennheiser HD 600 connected by cable to a headphone amp connected to a good CD player (which I also use for jazz and for any "pop music" (of various kinds) that I really want to concentrate on listening to). The Bluetooth headphones connect well to the TV and to a standalone network storage device that has (non-WAV) copies of my "pop" (etc.) CDs in the format used by iTunes and is used when I don't want to sit and concentrate on the music.

Good job guys with the comparison of the head phones but when you started this maybe a average price amount would have been nice.

I have the Anker Soundcore Q30 and holy crap! I am blown away. I wish there were more reviews on them.. Very sneaky. But looking to upgrade to the Bose 700. But you cant beat the $80 price range on the Anker's- I borrowed an Apple AirPod max.. they are nice too but they are heavy and always afraid to drop them or scratch them on accident - Plus I get this "Look at this show off" look from people. Not many people have the Apple Airpod Max lol

Last year I tried both the Bose and Sony and I chose the Bose. Sony to me was uncomfortable and the sound not as good as the Bose.

When you say bass heavy is that something that can’t be EQd?
@PayetteForward

Personally I find the EQ settings in phones to be rather dodgy but it could alleviate some of the bass/frequency issues with certain headphones. A lot of the problems stem from the sound drivers in the bass heavy headphones. Hope this helps! -Zech
