Hey Mike! Hi Kyle! Chicagoland has many great places to live for the rich and uber-rich! Starting in Lincoln Park, which is home to a few billionaires. Kenilworth, the smallest of the North Shore suburbs, I believe has the highest income per capita in Illinois; but neighboring Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park and Evanston are all in the same category. Incredible, huge, some historic, mansions there along scenic driving Sheridan Road, and yes, being on Lake Michigan is absolutely gorgeous... you're on the right track with the North Shore. The Western suburbs, particularly Hinsdale also boast an abundance of old and new legit mansions! The list goes on and on. Indiana: Munster?! There are some very affluent areas of Indianapolis, including Carmel which I know you're aware of. If I were rich in Indiana, I might stay along the Lake Michigan shore but over around Long Beach/Beverly Shores, Michiana, etc. There's also some big hills down around Brown County that I'm sure make for great millionaire lodges and rural land. At least that's what John Cougar Mellencamp thinks :) Thanks!

As a lifelong Minnesota resident I would have picked the area around Lake Minnetonka. Unremarkable houses go for well north of a million dollars just because they have some lakeshore on Minnetonka. I disagree slightly with the Illinois pick. While NE Chicago IS a very wealthy and nice part of the city, the real money is in the north shore suburbs like Evanston, Winnetka, Glencoe, Lake Forest etc. I would say these are where you'd go if you had infinite money because you have beaches there too that are less busy than the city, plus one of metra's best lines goes through those suburbs so you have easy access to the city. One element I think you have to factor in here is access to state-of-the-art health care. Most rich people are, after all, not young and they do have families and hangers-on who will need advanced treatment that has to be done at a top facility and living in a remote, bucolic locale is a serious liability when considering the innumerable trips for doctors appointments when you get older.

As a Michigan native, I’m glad you picked Traverse City over one of those Detroit suburbs. I myself would buy a large home in the UP if I was rich and living in Michigan. I may even consider the top part of The Thumb for its closer proximity to more restaurants, stores, and Canada.

I live in the thumb-places like Caseville and Port Austin are fine destinations during the summer months, but pretty desolate the rest of the year with a lot of the bars & restaurants shutting down for the winter. The serenity might be desirable to some though. I personally miss the amenities of a mid-sized city where I’ve lived most of my life. But there’s definitely no shortage of beautiful residential properties all along the Huron coast & you probably don’t have to be that rich to own one compared to similar properties in the Traverse City/Petoskey area.

I know you’re trying to avoid the suburbs of big cities, but for a lot of these states the wealthiest suburbs of the major cities are definitely the place to be if you’re rich. For Colorado I’d say there’s a ton of choices, but the south Denver suburbs area tends to be the wealthiest part of the state. For Indiana the answer would be Carmel no question. For Illinois I’d say that living in the north shore suburbs like winnetka and Evanston would be the best places to live if wealthy. In Kansas the best places to live if wealthy would definitely be the suburbs of kc. And I know you said Montanans would avoid the national parks, but big sky is definitely the best place to be if wealthy in that state, it’s kind of tucked away and most people don’t drive through it on their way to Yellowstone. As for Minnesota, the lake Minnetonka suburbs of Minneapolis are definitely the place to be. As for part 2 I have a few recommendations to make if you’re having a hard time figuring out where the best places for the wealthy are. Nebraska I would say elkhorn and the western Omaha suburbs are the best place to be if rich. For Nevada there are a ton of choices in the lv suburbs, but also some nice towns like incline village and others along the Lake Tahoe shores. For New Jersey it’s probably going to have to be alpine, because it’s very similar to Greenwich ct and is a very wealthy suburb of nyc. For Oklahoma I’d say the best places for the wealthy are some of the rich okc suburbs like nichols hills. For Utah there are some wealthy slc suburbs but the park city area is undoubtably the place with the most wealth. I know some people are saying don’t pick the nova suburbs in Virginia, but those are some of the wealthiest communities in the entire country, let alone the state. Plus access to all the big city amenities and infrastructure being so close to Dulles airport. For Washington it probably has to be some of the east side suburbs of Seattle like Medina, Mercer island, Bellevue, Redmond, hunts point, woodinville etc. for Wisconsin I’d say the lake Geneva area is definitely the seat of wealth in that state, and for Wyoming it basically has to be the Jackson hole area.

Montana here, I’d say the best place for the rich and wealthy is Ravalli County. From what I’m seeing, the Bitterroot valley area has been attracting a lot of wealthy folks due to the proximity to the Bitterroot mountains which makes up the longest sub range of the Rocky Mountains. The scenery is impeccable, and it’s warmer in the Bitterroot Valley than other parts of Montana. Helena is scenic, but not as scenic as the Bitterroot area. Fun video! I totally understand your thought process and methodology for selecting these places. I have a few thoughts on places I'm a little more familiar with. As a Colorado resident, I understand Breck as close-ish to Denver but offering all the mountain life. Unfortunately that means the mountain is insanely busy every time except for the shoulder seasons. I'd offer the obvious Aspen or Telluride (my preference) as a place to live with unlimited money. Telluride is very remote, so the mountain isn't as busy, but a quick flight to Denver from the highest commercially served airport in the US if you need it. Steamboat Springs is another option. With it being a tough day trip from Denver, you don't get the ski crowds but can enjoy that champagne powder. If you need to get to Denver it's a 3 1/2 hour drive or a shorter flight in your Cirrus/Pilatus from KSBS. I flew there and back from KBJC in a Cessna 172 in under 3 hours! The Hayden airport is not that convenient so the benefits of heading west to fly east are not as strong vs. driving. Hot Springs, AR is a pretty depressing spot in my opinion but being wealthy on the lake probably makes up for it. For my money I'd definitely go NWA - the arts scene there is really remarkable. All the Walmart money combined with the energy and creativity of a college town like Fayetteville mean you get world class arts and food/drink. Plus, the mountain biking is among the best in the US - or so I've heard. I'm not familiar with Mentone but according to a WSJ article I read a while back, it looks like Lake Martin, AL is one of the places to be. I've also heard that Fairhope is a solid community of the wealthy but there's no pretention to speak of, while remaining close to Mobile. Peter Santenello did a very highly viewed video on this, which admittedly is how I found out about it. Alabama is one of the states I've spent the least time in so take any thoughts I have with a grain of salt. For Florida I'd offer Naples - the city closest to where my parents chose to retire. The people of Naples are so wealthy that they regularly bring Broadway productions to their local theatres and have solid art museums, restaurants and the like. The Gulf Coast is a little quieter than the MIA-FLL area. So I imagine if you were wealthy, either there or some place distanced from the "riff raff" (Fishers Island, Key Biscane, even Coconut Grove) would be a good choice. In an entirely different area of Florida, Alys Beach seems to be the new place to be for the ultra wealthy. It's a new community purpose-built to be more dense and walkable - but don't think that translates to cheaper prices! For Idaho I bet McCall (unfortunately I've never been so can't directly comment) is a great area but for my money I'd spring for a larger lake/ski area like Sandpoint (Schweitzer). Sun Valley is the playground for the rich and famous but the snowfall is not that impressive and I think summer lake life is important as well. I agree with the other posters that, if you had the money and didn't need to commute to Chicago, Carmel is a great place to be. Most roundabouts in North America has to count for something, right? For Minnesota I think you made cogent points about Lake Minnetonka not nailing what Minnesota is about - the rural, woods, water but immediately jumped to the North Shore instead of considering central MN. Central MN is vacationland for the wealthy, especially Gull Lake (Gold Coast of East Gull Lake, Nisswa) and Cross Lake/Whitefish Chain (town of Crosslake). I would never fault anyone for preferring the North Shore to Central MN but I think being able to take the boat out and have warmer summers and a greater breadth of amenities counts for the rich. East Gull Lake has firmly over 100 holes of golf within a couple miles and it seems like 9-18 holes are built every year (Gravel Pit, Lehman 18 in the last couple years). The North Shore is amazing in the summer and Lutsen is the place to be in the winter for skiing but I think it offers less to do in the shoulder seasons than Central MN. But both are good options in the sense that you can get to the Cities or to the other in a similar amount of time. Putting my money where my mouth is, I bought some land on a midsize lake in the Brainerd Lakes area. Given anywhere in the US in my affordability range, I think this is the place I'd want to be. As far as Montana goes, I completely respect the decision. For my money, I'm going ski in/ski out in Big Sky. (Unlimited money & connections, even Yellowstone Club!) There are so many places that offer privacy but easy access to the lifts. Plus, they have an outdoor ice rink now which sweetens the deal for me. It's not terribly busy relative to other Mountain West ski areas but there are still enough bars/restaurants to be comfortable. Thanks for making this video, I think it was a lot of fun to consider where I'd choose to live with no capital constraints. Keep up the enjoyable content!

The best insurance to pay for the best doctors that only take the best insurance, transportation to the larger cities for medical specialists, private schools if the public ones aren't great, being miles from where drugs and crime are doing damage, etc. I was also thinking more along the lines of "if you have a lot of money and can go anywhere", as opposed to "having a high-paying job and needing to be where there's a good job market".

All of those places are loaded As for me, if I had the money, I’d probably stay put in Worcester, maybe Northampton

Great video, but it really feels like the desire to be original has just turned this into “best exurb in each state”. Unless getting away from people is your absolute #1 top priority, the obvious answer is usually going to be the right one

Breckenridge is nice, but the area around Steamboat would be my pick. For one, you don't need to take I-70 to get to the Front Range, and because Steamboat is more isolated, it hasn't picked up that corporate ski town vibe yet.

Steamboat rules. Granted, I've only been there once, and that was for a couple of String Cheese Incident shows, but I loved it so much.

@@MikeP2055 I've seen a few SCI shows in the Boat myself. A good friend of mine lived up there from 2000 - 2003, so I had a couch to crash on. It's a beautiful place.

I'm curious about the next part. Here are a few guesses and thoughts. My state of Tennessee: I hope we don't see one of the suburbs to the south of Nashville but there's a decent chance. I'd take my beloved Chattanooga any day. But if I was rich and just going wild I'd go crazy and pick Gatlinburg. Virginia: please don't pick some place in NOVA. My choice would be Williamsburg or Yorktown. Texas: For me the answer would be the same for any list of great places to live in Texas and that would be San Antonio. Possibly the most underrated city in the USA. Oregon: I know the Portland suburbs like Lake Oswego will be a common choice but I think the best place in Oregon is Newport. Beautiful, charming, fun stuff, great food. Ohio: I've lived there and I guess I'd go with a suburb west of Cincinnati or north of Columbus. But Ohio wouldn't be my default if I fell into a fortune. Nevada: What are you supposed to say here? I feel like a wealthy suburban of Las Vegas is the default but it's kind of a sad situation. Reno would be a bit better if it was close to anything. New York: I'm going to guess the answer will just be a flat on 5th Ave or Central Park West. Or possibly The Hamptons. Personally I'd go for Grand Island. New Jersey: n/a Utah: I'll guess it'll be Park City but I'd go with Saint George Pennsylvania: I don't know what he'll pick but I would go for an odd ball: Elysburg. Basically, it's a beautiful area and Knoebels is awesome. Wisconsin: you might pick up from this list that I like family fun destinations so I'd go with Wisconsin Dells. Similarly, if i were talking about Missouri I'd pick Branson so that gives you some idea where I'm coming from.

Born and raised in Biston, MA. The answer is Beacon Hill for year round living. Lexington is nothing but a bedroom community. Had a brother who owned there for the sake of his kids. Otherwise, no one wants to go there outside of a historical reference. Beacon Hill is brownstones, old money, historical, and home of political influence. It screams MA!

Yeah Rancho santa fe is not a very known area but then again CA is huge and there is a lot of money everywhere. I think people forget RSF used to be a place where there was a cult about 25 yrs ago but it's still one of the most expensive places in the country. I'm a sd resident and I've never been there, that just shows you how exclusive it is

Scottsdale/Phoenix TOO hot Too flat, Too Dry, TOO many people. Its a nightmare but yes the new scottsdale area (by Cave Creek or Carefree) is nice and quiet.....but WHY? Because it resembles TUCSON!! Tucson, higher up, so its cooler, right up against Mt Lemmon, has the much more consistent monsoon (no haboobs) and you can get a place end of Alvernon, Swan, Finisterra or Ventana canyon and you are in, rather ON the mountain! Tucson is more lowkey and laid back. A good number of celebrities live there because people dont bug them. Just such a better choice than Scottsdale or Phoenix area

As a former Chicago suburb resident...there's several "rich" areas in the NW and W suburbs, but I have to agree with the masses and say the area around Evanston is rich rich. I lived in Homer Glen abt 35 mi. SW of Chicago and there's some uber rich parts there too, but by the lake takes the cake

Here in Colorado Breck is kind of a mess. No, if you're really wealthy, Aspen is it. Prettier, more to do, a bit more remote, a solid little airport, and a local community.

Just remember when you go to pick somewhere in Virginia that Northern Virginia does not represent most of the state. Some other areas to consider are the River Road or Windsor Farms areas of Richmond if you want to be out of the city, the Fan if you want to be in Richmond, or maybe somewhere like Middleburg with all the horse farm money. Charlottesville is also really nice.
