To anyone who sees this when you do plyos do not do too much of it in a single session. You will start to build your slow twitch/endurance muscles which do not help your explosiveness. I thought doing 100 box squats and heavy weightlifting would help but it didnt. I started doing max effort jumps for 20 reps, and I got more bounce than the box jumps. Make sure every plyo exercise you do is at max effort, stop when your muscles tire

@@chengxi179depends, the way you increase explosiveness is by doing a quick movements, if the weight is too heavy you recruit more fibers but show down so it does the opposite. I recomend anywhere from 55% to 70% of your 1 rep max (with good form not ego lifting) and not to take any longer than 0.5 to 1 seconds to move that weight. I worded it a bit weird but hope it makes sense

On depth jumps you shouldn't be pausing in the bottom position; because that defeats the purpose of depth jumps.

@@keithpoitierperformance yeah they are two different things but your pause is still too long. It’s not building the explosive power that you’re needing is supposed to hit the ground hit depths and then return back up

Correct. By definition, pluometrics is a lengthening of the muscle under load immediately prior to muscle contraction. The pause at the bottom defeats the entire purpose of performing plyometrics.

Stretching and building a foundation of strength by training your slow twitch muscles which can be basic workouts like calf raises squats etc, balance and control are just as important you standing on one legs with your hand around a pole but not grabbing it and jumping in different patterns

Depth jumps do not stunt your growth. The concern that certain types of exercises, such as weight lifting or plyometric exercises like depth jumps, can stunt growth is a common myth. Why Depth Jumps Don’t Stunt Growth: Growth Plates: The fear of stunting growth usually comes from concerns about damaging growth plates, which are areas of developing tissue at the ends of long bones in children and adolescents. While growth plates are indeed sensitive, there is no evidence that properly performed depth jumps or other strength training exercises harm them or stunt growth. Proper Technique: When done with proper form and appropriate intensity, depth jumps are safe and beneficial for increasing strength, power, and athletic performance. Supervision: For younger athletes, it’s important to ensure that they are performing exercises with correct technique, and it’s recommended that they are supervised by a coach or trained professional, especially when doing high-impact activities. Benefits of Depth Jumps: Strength and Power: Depth jumps help in developing explosive power, which is essential for sports like volleyball, basketball, and track. Bone Health: Regular exercise, including weight-bearing activities like plyometrics, actually contributes to stronger bones, which is beneficial during growth periods. Key Points to Consider: Age-Appropriate Training: Ensure that the exercise intensity is appropriate for your age and experience level. Younger athletes may start with lower-impact exercises and gradually progress. Rest and Recovery: Make sure you’re getting enough rest between workouts to allow your body to recover and grow. Nutrition: Maintain a balanced diet rich in calcium, vitamin D, and other nutrients essential for bone growth and overall health. Depth jumps, when done correctly, are safe and will not stunt your growth. Instead, they will help you build strength and power, which are important for athletic development.
