As a lawyer, here is a short lesson in patents. What Uberflex has is a DESIGN patent. When Flexilla (or anyone else who pays a royalty), they are using the DESIGN. You mention you found a patent pending application from Flexilla for their hose. What they are saying is: we will use the Uberflex design, but we are going to use, perhaps, our own materials. They would then seek a utility patent, or material and construction patent. In the end, Flexzilla would be using the design patent of Uberflex and a utility, or material and construction, patent of the their own. For example, Uberflex uses a polyester construction for its outer covering. Flexzilla uses a hybrid polymer. Does that make a difference? I don't know, but is IS different. There may be other things which are changed we don't know about, but we CAN conclude they ARE different, even if the differences do not make a difference. I am not qualified to comment on the latter:-) BUT, I WILL be buying one of these hoses based on your review which I found sufficiently informative to help me make a buying decision.

@@imjoshvI’m in industrial sales and involved in legal issues at times and you can’t trademark a color. You can however, trademark a pattern, such as the Coca Cola label. Trademarking a color would lead to a monopoly on that color, is why you can’t do it. Why are the hose colors different between flexilla and Uberflex? What happens is, if you get a royalty for your patent, “it’s a gentlemen agreement” or signed agreement, that you don’t use the same colors or pattern. This distinguishes yourself enough so it’s doesn’t appear to be the same exact product. I have a Ryobi pressure washer and personally like the green flexilla because it matches, even though it cost more and some hose patent.

UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust kzitem.infoUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.

I had my UberFlex 50 ft hose for almost 3 years! I bought it from Lowe's, it was rebranded as Kobalt hose when they used to sell them. I'm pretty sure it's now discontinued off their site. The tips on the inside got rusty started flaking around the o rings and the hose had some discoloration from chemicals and the outside elements. Last week it got a tear in line mostly likely from me or a sharp object in the garage. Even though it was made in the USA which was one of my reason for buying it held up pretty decent. Good value for money but recently just upgraded to KobraJet 50 ft hose its amazing! It has more heft compared to the UberFlex. That can be a plus and a minus for many. Looking forward to testing it out in the long run. Whatever works with your budget do has you please, there's nothing wrong with that!

There is a difference between the two. Flexzilla has a two year warranty stated on package. Uberflex does not. I called the parent company in Iowa and asked if they warranty the Uberflex hose. They told me no, and said they leave it up to the retailer, so if you purchase from Amazon you get 30 days warrenty. So, after reading the Amazon reviews I went with Flexzilla. I purchased from Menards during a 11% off sale so after rebate it was the same price as Amazon, and I got two years coverage.

Adding my data-point to this. Tested with Active VE52 pressure washer, 4.0 orifice 40° nozzle, Uberflex 1/4"x50' and Flexzilla 3/8"x50' Numbers between both hoses were nearly identical, low psi due to orifice size. Uberflex 1/4"x50': 850psi, 1.9gpm Flexzilla 3/8"x50': 850psi, 1.9gpm I would definitely recommend the 1/4 over the 3/8 hose for anyone running under 3000psi. The larger Flexzilla hose is much bulkier and tends to crimp, it also does not roll out as easily. I have a 3/8" KobraJet hose too and it is nice but very bulky. The 1/4" Uberflex is great it doesn't tangle as easily and is incredibly pliable for a pressure washer hose.

I got so tired of fighting my hard cover hose. It usually won. I lost my confidence and self esteem. I conceded defeat and bought the Flexzilla, which I received and attached today. Just because the hoses are marked with the same patent number doesn't mean they are all sourced from the same company. Other manufacturers can purchase the rights to use a patented technology, and this would be reflected in product label. So, it is common to find products made by other manufacturers of higher/lower quality than produced by the owner of the patent.

If you managed to do all that research to find out the patent numbers, then you should've also mentioned the warranty difference between these 2 hoses which i feel is more important. The Uberflex hose has only a 180 day warranty whereas Flexzilla has a 2-year warranty. The BlackMax one, based on the Uberflex, only has a 30 day warranty. The premium price of the Flexzilla may be due to the extra expense of handling more warranty replacements.

IF Flexzilla has a lot of warranty claims, we don’t know so that’s pure speculation. 4:45 states patent is owned by Uberflex. So either FZ buys the hose from them or licenses it, both explaining why UF can sell for cheaper. I’ve had my Uberflex for almost 5 years with zero issues. I doubt there are many issues with either. I wouldn’t buy or not buy either based on warranty.

context I am a college student, I have studied hydraulics, pneumatics, and pump application. Things that decrease your PSI would be the length, connections, eddies, and cavitation. if you look up friction loss charts you will find for various lengths the amount you will lose per 100sq ft. each connection will also decrease your psi because as the water moves into the area of a different size container it creates eddies in the water. Cavitation is the rapid formation and implosion of air bubbles in your flow, things that can cause this are heat and having your water supply fed from a lower level than your pump is pushing it. note cavitation is going to do a lot of damage to your impeller (part of your pump that moves water)

Just returned the 50' Flexzilla to Amazon and kept the 50' Uberflex. Why? The Flexzilla had definite memory: It came coiled and kept reverting to that coiled position. The Uberflex, on the other hand, although it too was shipped tightly coiled yet once opened did not try to return to that coiled state. Only concern: Uberflex Blue is rated at 3100psi. Our Simpson/Honda pressure washer is rated at 3400psi. I have read that the additional 300psi is nominal and it will have no real-world affect upon the Uberflex Blue. Also ordered the Twinkle QC set along with the McKillans Swivel Gun + the McKillans Straight Wand Extension. Tried to order the McKillans Foam Cannon, but it was unavailable (on Amazon) so I ordered the also top rated Tool Daily Foam Cannon set + Mr. Pink Soap.

I did cursory read of the patent and it does not appear to specify the exact materials used. It uses general terms like "elastomeric material" and "textile yarns". It also says the patent applies to multiple types of high pressure yarn reinforced thermoplastic hose standards. I think this means that different hoses can be designed per the patent, but could use different materials for the inner tube, the reinforcing yarns, and the outer sheath. So, two hoses can both cite the patent, but could use different materials and perform differently with respect to things like burst pressure and flexibility (which the patent appears to as "having a very small bend radius and a high degree of flattening and kink resistance"). There may be other qualities not covered by the patent that are determined by the materials used. For example, different types of material used for the outer sheath may vary in their UV-resistance or mold-resistance. Absent other evidence, I would avoid saying, based solely on the patent, that the Uberflex and Flexzilla hoses are the same, even if they are manufactured by the same company, in the same plant, using the same machines.

There is a connection point between the wheels that I could use with an adapter but not sure what needs to come apart to make that do-able. Any chance you could look into this for me?? If its not easily done, then adding an extension might be my only option. Thanks again for all of your videos...I really enjoy them.

Is a 50' important for washing a car at home, or would the 35' be just as good? I'm trying to get my first setup and do not like buying things twice when I can avoid it. I know that extra length is helpful when you need it, but I also find that when a hose or cord is too long it can get in the way (and takes up more storage).

I bought the GreenWorks Pro 2300 psi pressure washer based on his review, and indeed it works very well. It also came with the 25 foot blue Uberflex hose, which is nice, but after washing my car today, I see his point about how 50 foot would be better. You have to reposition the pressure washer at least one time with the 25 foot hose. 50 foot hose you should be able to leave the washer in one place and wash any sized passenger car/truck. 35 foot hose might not be long enough to get around a larger vehicle. Although I guess if you find the 35 foot to be not long enough, you can get two, connect them with a male to male adapter, and have 70 foot total. In any case I'm actually planning to get another 50 foot hose despite already having the 25 footer.

Hi Josh, can you tell me if using uberflex feels exactly like flexzilla? I bought a new set of 50 ft flexilla but still feel the hose is still stiff and requires a lot of turning to unroll or roll up the hose. Not sure if it requires time to break them in. I got used to regular flexzilla garden hose and those felt super flexible, maybe my expectation was there. I haven’t tried uberflex and wonder if i should but a set to compare them myself. Thank you. 😊

Are all the fitting the same and attached in the same way to the tubing. That's where mine failed. The tubing came out of the fitting...

Can I use same type of hose to connect to water source? Or use it as water hose alone ?

Why in Amazon comments there are so much negatives. Issues with hoses leak, and exploded. I bought a CAT power pressure two month ago I wonder if i will have issue with this brand of hoses. I saw people using it at high pressure 3200 psi or less, and exploded. or some have issues that their hoses degrade after a certain time make me remember car oil have the same issues.

It appears that Uberflex does not sell a 5/16" hose. At least I could not find one.

Hey Josh, can you review the BluShield 1/4" hose vs the Uberflex?

Is there any reason why you use the ubberflex 1/4" hose and not the 3/8" hose that already has the quick connect fittings.

I had a Costway pressure washer, that was a nightmare to upgrade the hose because not much adapters was working with it so I replaced the pressure washer 🙄😒

Just got the Uberflex yesterday since you recommended it, but when I hooked it up my pressure washer would sound like it powers down then resumes full power then powers down again and keeps doing that. Any input or idea if the new hose could cause that ? I have the Ryobi 1900 psi 1.2 gallon I think (150$ one)? Thanks.
