Don’t forget about the Batobus when visiting the Eiffel Tower. You pay a one off ticket price which I think is 17 euros. There are stops near all points of interest. Ride the boat on the Siene and get off at Louvres, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and get back on at same stop or other stop or just ride it in a loop past all iconic spots. It is one price for whole day getting on and off as many times as you like. It is a much nicer experience than bus or metro. Buy tickets online or at booth on Siene near a stop.

Just returned from 11 days in Paris and 4 days in Spain. Largely, I traveled alone...and it was wonderful! I'd created a punishing schedule of events, sites and places to eat so that I had a plan for every day, even including how much time it would take to walk or ride in a cab from one location to the next. It was a lot of work, but worth it, and it didn't mean that adjustments weren't necessary but I wanted to appear "in the know and on the go" rather than like a lost soul. I polished up my language skills and was fearless in using it. Still, I was shocked at how many people spoke English. That said, I had terrific conversations -in French- with Uber and Taxi drivers who are notorious for NOT talking to passengers! There were no problems getting tables for one, but I'd agree that if you want to eat in a top location, book ahead, though typically they can squeeze you in if you don't mind waiting. I would also caution about changing a preset reservation. Le Procope told me one thing on the phone, then something else when I arrived. When I produced a printed copy of the reservation, the maitre 'd tore it up in front of me...but he eventually got me a table. Eating alone I met terrific people from the US and Canada (as well as locals). And not being engaged in conversation all the time (with a travel partner) gives you an opportunity for reflection and to really look at what you're seeing. Selfies mean you don't need someone else behind the camera and I did a daily FB post with diary entries and 100's of pictures which kept me engaged with the people back home. I never felt alone; and I completed 92% of my list without incident!

I am female and went to Paris in November. This is how I dressed. I wore soft comfortable flat boots that I added a gel sole to. I wore long pants with tights underneath. I wore light sweaters. I had an ankle length London Fog trench coat with a removable lining. My coat has large pockets on the inside and outside. I had a warm neck scarf. I carried a pocket umbrella, as it rains often in Paris. My friends both had knee length coats and were cold often. If you are going to have a warmer day you can leave your scarf, tights & coat lining behind. Just remember it gets much colder after dark regardless of if you have a warm day.

Re: Navigo card. A card from 2015 would probably be the old system where by you can load a day pass week month or year. But not individual tickets. If doing many stops in a day worth it but if not it is better to get an « Easy » Navigo pass where you can load tickets.. both work but for a day regular Navigo is over 7 euros so you need to be using it at lest 3x. Both you can load and check how munch money you have left on card by using RATP app on your smart phone. You touch end of phone to card to read it and to load it..so easy…Navigo cards work on vehicular at Montmartre as well.

Hi, just discovered your videos, and I'm pleased to see some up-to-date advice about travelling in France. While I am currently brushing up on my French, I hope to be a bit more confident using it by the time we go in August. I have only been twice before and both were short trips. My rudimentary knowledge of French was useful particularly in places like the train stations in Dieppe and Rouen en route to Paris. Back then I had trouble getting Google coverage so downloading maps ahead of time could be useful. Yes, encountered scammers a couple of times. Fortunately I remained safe. No theft. Loved travelling on the Metro but was a bit scary at first. There was someone playing the sax in our carriage on one journey just as if it was a regular thing. I'm a bit more concerned this time with my mobility as I now find stairs an issue and use a walking stick. But I'll have my adult son and daughter with me and preplanning is a bit of an obsession. I am looking forward to watching a few more of your videos to become familiar with current conditions for travellers.

@@LesFrenchiesTravel Jules Verne was well worth the price, not only because of the over-the-top food and wine, but also since despite the tower workers’ strike (a national sport here, from my understanding), we were still able to enter the Eiffel Tower. We both got the 7 course option, which each came with 3 additional free courses, plus 1 more at the end to make sure we were not able to finish everything. Because we opted not to get the 200 euro per glass Christmas Bordeaux, and simply ordered a total of 2 glasses of Champagne plus 3 glasses of their least expensive Chardonnay, our final bill for two patrons only came to 644 Euros. Hey guys, love watching the videos. Just a little comment, hope you don't mind; you mention in several videos that tipping is not expected in France as it is included in the price of the meal (sorry for paraphrasing, not your exact words). I think that gives visitors the wrong impression. While it's true that servers in France do make a living wage, and that tips are not obligatory....tips are still very much appreciated and still kind of expected. Restaurant staff work very hard, and they don't get paid all that much, when you look at cost of living, etc, especially in a place like Paris. Tips are NOT taken out of the cost of the meal by the restaurant owner and given to the staff unless they are specifically added when paying the bill, or of course, left in cash on the table. Just wanted to mention that (I work as a waitress down near Nice).

When in France I always pay in euros. I have a credit card just for use in Europe. It has has no transaction charge and a near perfect exchange rate. If you pay in your own currency the exchange rate will be set by the vendor's bank. It could cost you between 5 and 10% on each transaction. As for COVID, in late September we entered France by ferry from the UK. At no point was I asked to provide any proof of vaccination.

I am leaving in a couple of hours for my flight to Paris! Will be there for a week and hope to see you around town, or might stop by Ruby's on Thanksgiving evening (I think this is the place you previously mentioned on an earlier chat). Thanks for another great video!

Love your channel, but are you sure about having to produce vaccination status? This says different Travelers no longer have any health formalities to complete before their arrival in France, in mainland France and overseas, and the presentation of the health pass can no longer be required, regardless of the country or area of origin.7 Sept 2022

There are no more travel requirements for France. No proof of vaccine / no covid test required.

So it´s something "odd" to use cash? I thought France was cash friendly. Its easier to keep track of what you spend when you travel if you use cash. For example in Germany cash is the real king.
