Thanks for the video! Question: When you say you are over exposing by at least one stop, do you mess with the metering dial or are you just adjusting your zebra settings to a 105 or 107 type of thing?

Hey there, depending the camera you are using you may have a meter that shows your average exposure. By increasing the exposure by 1 stop it just means you make the scene brighter by one unit. In other words, expose your scene to what you think looks the best, then adjust your ISO, aperture, or shutter speed to make it 1 step brighter. Hope that clarifies it for you!

Typically what people are talking about when referring to overexposure is exposing X stops past middle grey, whatever that may be in your particular scene. You must first know what middle grey even IS in your scene. You don't just "expose 1 stop above" whatever the camera meter says because all modes of the meter may not align with what it is your scene even contains as it pertains to absolute brightness.

Great video.. Have just started trying log settings on my a6600. Do you start with a lut when you first start to grade? Thanks again

Hey Pat, it depends what picture profile I shoot in. For Cine4 I don't typically use a lut. I add an adjustment layer and just make some basic colour adjustments in the lumetri scopes. Main adjustments being contrast and saturation.

how do you reduce the noise when shooting in low light (like basements?) I do real estate video and struggle with the noise here... great video and thanks for sharing!

For real estate videos you should get some lights and make it birghter

i may be wrong but slog boosts shadows to make the image more flat, introducing more noise. to combat this you need to overexpose by about 2 stops. cine4 is less flat so it doesnt boost shadows as much.

So quick question. Let's say I'm shooting video and I set my profile settings to CINE4. When I'm ready to shoot photography again, do I have to switch all of those settings back to the way they were or would CINE4 work for photography as well?
@Movesmedia

Good Question! I would just leave my settings as is and it worked great in my opion. That said, I don't condser myself a pro photographer so maybe other people would have other thoughts. If I were you I'd do some test shots and see if you can get goo quality results after editing your photos with those settings and compare them to other setting you have used int he past. Hope that helps!

Hi Blaise. Up pretty late with lockdown. Found your site and glad I did. Pretty new to video and learning slowly. I am using Filmora Pro and wondered if the difference in editing is different to other setups as far as the outcomes? It seems the two,cine4 and HGL are the preferred Gradings. Stay safe my friend.
