Thank you! Great fun working with you! I particularly liked the mixture of mirrorless (you) and camcorder (me) shoots in this video. The mirrorless shots created a nice and edgier vibe during the opening sequence. Interestingly, I just realized that we are both using Canon gear!

@@DanielSRosehill Yes, wouldn't want to imply he was a licensed and board certified shwarma taste tester . . .the good people on Facebook might lose it.

Yes, the thread caused quite the uproar. All I can say is that as I hope the video made clear it was a pretty low-key event but good fun for all involved. No intimation of Shimshon providing a touring service etc. Just a few people checking out some shawarma places on a cold afternoon!

@@DanielSRosehill Very clear! And as someone who hasn't been able to visit Israel since before COVID, I'm looking forward to returning soon. So I appreciate this video and all of Shimshon's reviews on FB!

Thanks for the video. Everytime I try a shawarma in Israel I am disappointed because I compare it with the shawarma I used to buy in Paris from Libanese street take-away. Thanks to this video I understand that in Israel they actually do 'doner kebap', the turkish version with less spices and tahina instead of yogourt. Although Shawarma has turkish origins, it is a libanese/levantine recipe. I think it is the best because they use a lot of spices of the meat marinade. Then in the pita they also add garlic sauce and preserved 'pink' turnip which makes the dish very tasty. But the secret of the best shawarma is in the marinade. Unfortunately I could not find anything close to a libanese 'shawarma' in Israel when I was there.

I used to buy doner from a Lebanese street seller in NYC (I did a summer internship there many year ago). Nothing I've had in Israel has compared. So.. I'm with you. (I had doner in Turkey last year and minus the distinctive thin bread and yoghurt in place of tahini it was surprisingly similar to the stuff you get here).

It's doner right?

Aka and TurkiShuk both have it listed as doner on their menus although both describe that as "Turkish shawarma" on their menus. I guess that's technically accurate as to the best of my knowledge shawarma predates doner.

Yes it looks like 'doner kebab', the turkish dish. Shawarma is different, it is the libanese/levantine version (and is also tastier IMO)

Arabic and Palestinian food is the best. Let's see how we can appropriate them
