I can't remember which HOKA I bought, but they were $210 and made it noticeably worse. They felt very comfy when I first put them on, but it was agony (worse than before) after walking about 1/16 of a mile.

Good info! I've mistakenly been trying more and more cushion which I've learned from your video.... only makes things worse. Makes perfect sense in retrospect since my hiking boots give me almost instant relief.

Yes, unfortunately the higher the stack and softer the cushioning then the shoe becomes more unstable

I can't offer specific advice without an assessment, unfortunately. The midsole and rocker can make them less stable than other shoes.

Hi! Thank you for this great video. I have swelling at the Achilles tendonitis, shin splints and some plantar fasciitis along with the peroneal tendinitis. I have a neuroma in that foot that I had treated with sclerosing injection and it is doing well, but that foot is really jacked! Are these two shoes still the recommended shoe for those added conditions? Also, do you have a court shoe you could recommend for these issues if I want to try to keep playing pickleball lightly while recovering? I understand this isn't medical advice, etc...just would love you expertise and opinion. THANK YOU!

Achilles tendonitis benefits from a higher drop shoe while both shoes can be beneficial for the other conditions.

Thanks for this video. I am recovering from Peroneal and Achilles Tendinitis and I have a tenancy to roll my ankles. however I also have moderately high arches. It seems most recommend cushioned shoes for high arches but stable shoes for people with weak ankles. I actually have an older pair of Cliftons and I rolled my ankle just today walking through a parking lot although they have been great for my tendinitis. Would you recommend the Asics for me despite having a moderately high arch? Thanks!

Hi, As this is an educational channel, we can't provide direct advice. Achilles Tendon symptoms often find relief from a high drop trainer of 10mm and above, while a stability trainer can potentially reduce the risk of innocuous ankle sprains. The Gel-Kayano 30 has both of these features.

Really helpful, thank you! Would the stability shoe continue to be a good shoe once the pain eases and stability in the ankle is improved / likewise, only one ankle has stability issues / peroneal tendonitis - will this affect and worsen my OK ankle/foot?
@james_mccormack

Hi Amy, Currently there is no evidence that I am aware of that a stability trainer could weaken the muscles of the foot. A sensible thing to consider is regular strengthening of your foot and ankle, similarly to how someone would strengthening any other part of their body.

I'm trying to figure out if my footwear is causing more pain. My feet are pronated and I currently wear arch fit sketchers. Is this a good option for someone with peroneal tendonitis or I'm wearing the wrong footwear?

@james_mccormack saw a podiatrist recently, he said my sketchers provide no support and was easily bending them. Confirmed that I have pronated and flat feet. Told me to buy walking shoes and custom insoles will be fitted. I'm trying to find some stability shoes for pronated/flat feet now, can you suggest some options plz if my budget was around £100?

Would you recommend Brooks Men's Glycerin Gts 20 Running Shoe? I went for a gait analysis last year when I started couch to 5k as when I ran my lower legs (not so much my ankle) would swell and cause pain continuing to the next day and they recommended this shoe which I purchased. I suspect I have Peroneal Tendonitis and have been doing strengthening exercises for the last 3 weeks and I’m starting couch to 5k again with a running club
