It’s also an effective form checker and weak point indicator. I give myself 10 lashes when I feel one side of the bar hit the pin before the other. 👋

Insightful video as usual! I know you mentioned athletes who use more stretch tend to be thrown off by pin squats. What sort of variations have you seen to work better for them?

These were my favorite squat variation when I used to train at a comercial gym. Now I am just saving up to buy some pins for my rack. I would also like to know what you think about pin bench press vs paused bench press.

Pin squat with safety strap vs actually safety pin. Hypothetical i can get same stoping point on both equipment. Is there any big differences? Is there 1 better than other?

You say, that Pin Squats can mess up peoples, whoes squat depends on speed and stretch reflex - what movement would you use for these people in place of the pin squat?

Something specific to what that individual needs. Maybe nothing. Maybe pin squats.

@@Doomedt Right, it would just depend on the need of the lifter. I do think people of that style can get carried away at times with how fast they feel like they should descend, so something like a 300 tempo squat or something similar tends to make sense. Reinforces a bit of control while not making the bottom feel awkward. That might be a good starting point, but I wouldn't just throw it out there without reason.

Now do second best! I'm lifting in squat stands with fixed safeties too far down to get to the pins so pin squats are out until I find a new gym.
