Great video, as a newbie I’ve been fishing a small still-water for 5 months and its been challenging. I’ve used tapered leaders during that time but I understand that a single length of Mono/Fluoro is a prescribed method. Would love to see you do something on fishing single flies as that is one of the limitations on my local water. I’m looking forward to the upcoming videos! Tony

Hi Tony, I answered your question on using single flies in a shallow-ish stillwater in the description of a other video. Regarding your question on tapered/straight leader, I don't think the fact that you use a tapered leader is why you were struggling. Here's my thoughts: 1) What is the stocking policy of the stillwater (if any) and how are the other anglers fairing? 2) Do you just fish the tapered leader or do you add more length to it? Also what tip diameter is the tapered leader?

I’d like to see more on sinking lines in combinations of flies, weighted and unweighted?

Great Video team, A small question, when fishing streamers from the bank how do you stop you fly snagging closer to the bank but being too high out at the end.

Hi Mike, great question. There's a couple of options here. I don't know what fly line you're using, but I assume it's a sinking line? The first then would be to fish with a floating on intermediate fly line. Then, as you cast out, just wait longer for the flies to sink. The second option is to strip faster to keep the flies higher in the water column. The one I would suggest trying first is to fish the hang slightly further out, thus lifting the flies before they snag. Don't know if that makes sense?

Do you prefer sink tip or full sink lines?

For my applications I usually like sink tip but I’ll be interested to hear what Pierre says.
