I got a Sharp CDBA200 with dual 5 1/4" subs for my low bass and a Pyramid Pw1254-us for my heavy bass. The stereo also has its own amps and acts like a receiver, so I just need the stereo head unit. Its got dual 5 1/4" mids, dual 2" tweeters, and dual 2" Super Tweeters. I have this all in my bedroom which is roughly 10 foot long by 10 foot wide by 8 foot tall. It fills the walls with deep sounding bass and can drown out a local resident that has 5000W between two 12 subs in his SUV in another room.

If your serious about bass look in SVS they 500+ but come with the best warranty in the game + you got 45 days to try them out and if you dont like them or change you mind you can send it back on their dollar for a full refund. If 500 is too much for you but you still want the best you can get for under 500 look into BIC America F12 ($200) they are the best you can get, these will be the only 2 subwoofer I can recommend.

Both SVS and REL can do Sub Bass below 60hz. REL's are more like full range subs that shine (20hz and up) that can boost speaker channels while SVS subs shine 20 hz & down. your preference on crossovers...just separate the sub bass from the bass for unrivaled response.

@@TaylorMadeTheater I think the SVS's subs would do anything below 30 Hz better than any of REL's subs. Well it depends on what SVS sub you're talking about, all of their subs goes below 20 Hz, well the SB-1000 doesn't but what is full range subs? No HT subs can play fullrange, there exists some PA subs that can actually do up to like 15k Hz.

That being said my Logitech X-230 2.1 system that I bought for $50 like 8 years ago still completely satisfies my needs and wants for computer sound. Knowing how to setup and place a subwoofer is way more important than how much you spend on it.

I gave up the onkyo 5.1 set up and bought a Logitech THX Z906 that plugs one digital optical wire into the TV. It sounds amazing and clutter free but I wish I had more base! Can you help me find a way to get a system with a great subwoofer base without the need to buy an AV receiver?? Money is no option that velodyne subwoofer is bombs but I'm sick of AV receivers it looks way too big, clumsy, takes up too much space and all my guests ask me wtf is that ancient device! In 30+ yrs av receivers still look the same. I don't want one anymore.

I took it to my work bench to look at it and see if it worked. it had a dent from being in the bin and no power lead. I found a lead at work to test it but found the amp was blown and going wap wap wap wap wap really loud and the sub was going mental. I took the sub out and found it was good still so I took the amp out and it was all black inside on the board. I just ran some speaker cable from the sub through a little hole to my car amp and stuck it in my boot. amazing bass its crazy.

Can't review what I've got. All custom M80, the way it's meant to be heard. 15" in 3/4" veneer 7 layer plywood with cross bracing, slanted front baffle and damped rear wall to reduce standing waves or destructive interference from higher frequencies, tuned down 26Hz with an 6 dB per octave roll off, internal volume of 100 litres, ported, housing a 15" woofer with modded diaphragm to lower resonance to 26Hz. Powered by a class AB 1000w rack mount amplifier that sounds incredibly linear. Something that irritates me is that I run my sub at 1000w, and often when I do, I can get up to 2 inches of excursion. How does a 10" sub with 1300 watts deal with that? It has half the surface area, so it must move 4" for the same air movement, add to that, my sub is ported, so I get roughly the equivalent of a 10" sub moving 6" worth of air movement. Sure, it may not go as low as mine, but that's the point of a sub. If it can't come close to 20Hz, floorstanding speakers can reach down to 40Hz commonly, so there is not much point. Don't even argue it has tons of excursion. Tons of excursion on a smaller sub leads to non-linearity and muddy bass.

As I have read some of these reviews I have to agree with ur sub comparisons or should I say lack there of. U didn't compare them to anything except one costs more and has more power per model! With that said, u should have done more research and read more reviews on other subs. For half the money u could have bought an svs pb 4000: 1200 watts rms, over 4000 peak which has a 13.5 inch driver at $ 1900 or the svs 16 ultra 16" sub at 1500 rms , 5000 watts plus for 2500 bucks. U might as well get the best bang for ur buck, but if space is a factor I guess u pay for what benefits ur needs the best! Enjoy!!!

In my living room I have an MTX Thunder 5500 12" subwoofer in a 2.5 cubic foot ported box. It is run off about the same power as the impact 10 you have. I have rigged an old computer power supply to power a kenwood car amp I got second hand. The entire setup cost $100 and can shake the entire 4000 square foot house with luscious lows. When I turn it down though, it adds depth and impact to an otherwise boring living room setup. My disadvantages in comparison with your setup, is that it doesn't look nearly as good, and that the components were bought used. It's also all car audio stuff that was rigged to work in the house. So those are the obvious drawbacks. I think if you ever wanted to invest $300 in another subwoofer for the house you may want to rig one up with some quality car audio products and see how it compares with the "real" home subwoofers.

+Brian Gantick I connected a car amp in my house as well. I have a problem with it though. At first i connected it to a car battery in my house, then i got a computer power supply to run the amp as well. But the thing is with both of them that when i power up the amp and the stereo i have connected it to, it makes a low frequency bass noise ( about 40-50 hz ). It's not that bad when you turn the music up loud, but the "hum" ruins movies. Is there any solution for this you mighy know ?
@AFreshmanPerspective
9 жыл бұрын
There are a few things that could cause that. If you have the bass boost turned up on your car amp turn it down. That usually boosts frequencies around 40-50hz. If that isn't it you may have the amplifier gain set too high. the gain knob on a car amplifier isn't like the volume knob on a home theatre receiver. It took me a long time to figure that out. As you turn the gain up on a car amp it increases the amplifier's sensitivity to the input signal and that could be causing lots of noise in the signal. If you're gain is turned up the way to solve this is to boost the signal going into the amp, and then turn the gain down to reduce noise. The last thing I can think of would be a bad signal connection somewhere. That can often cause low frequency hums around 50-60hz. You can check this by plugging your Smartphone or computer straight into the RCA inputs on the amp with an RCA to 3.5mm (1/8") headphone jack adaptor cable and playing a few tunes. if the problem goes away it was probably a signal issue and you should check your connections upstream. (i.e. TV, Main receiver, any other auxillary devices hooked up to that signal) That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I hope this helps.
@akselikse
9 жыл бұрын
I already tried the bass boost (which did boost the noise when turned up but i have it all down to the minimum now) and the gains (which did not affect the noise) but i will examine the bad signal connection for sure. I really appriciate the help !

+Brian Gantick I had this same problem too and discovered that when I plugged additional components into the wall the hum went down exponentially with each component. Kind of like adding resistance to the set up reduced the noise or something. BTW I am running 2 Alpine R-12s in a sealed box and a 600 RMS Alpine MRD amp. A ~12 year old system I built in college and never reinstalled in my new car. It had been setting in my basement collecting dust when I got bored and ordered a TekPower TP30SWV 30 Amp power inverter for $150 on Amazon. It's a relatively clean looking conversion and it SLAMS. Vibrates all of my door jambs if I really turn it up. But for movies I don't turn the bass up that much :)

There are definitely much better options than Velodyne. Check out ID companies such HSU, Rythmik, SVS, Reaction Audio, Seaton Sound, JTR, ect.

before I spend $3,000 on a little house sub...I'd just buy 2 sa zv4 15s build a box for my living room and one for a SUV n still wouldn't hit that $3000 mark..car audio is always louder n more durable than house sub's ...but nice excursion on that 10

I have an Earthquake miniME p12, that thing is SICK!!! It goes so damn low you cant beleive it! Trust me, i have heard VERY expensive subs.. Even the top model from SVS. Nothing i have heard compares to my miniME p12 :O Imagine the supernova 15!! Shit...

3k for one 12 is way too much, judging by the amount of fkex the sub has that is no where near 1200 Watts, I can get my 4 12s to flex more than that in my Pyle 3003t 4 Channel, and it outputs roughly 1000 Watts clean I have two sundown e12s in a sub box only using one of two coils on each and two custom built towers, with currently mismatched subs, all subs have 4 ohm coils I've spent under $1000 on that part of my sound system

I'm not saying that it's bad, it's a very good woofer from a high end brand, with loads of built in tech, but these brands overcharge by a longshot in my opinion

You could also build you own house for half the price too. Wonder why more people don't just do that?

I would just make a custom subwoofer enclosure with a price of around £70 and it sounds insane
@lennartheske4363

No you couldn't because - first of all it's subwoofer not subwiofer - and second of all a solid driver already costs about 100+$.
@WilliamButcher4455

DasBlau ZuDemKraut thanks for the typo reminder and yes a very solid loud driver would cost 100+ but theres just something good about calcuating the resonant frequency of the encloure then creating a precision length bass port for optimal cinema like bass rumble from the impedance, xmax and spl that the individual drivers creates. futhermore I have reclaimed drivers that would easily fill a room with low bass notes for very little and sometimes free, i got a fli 12" 1000w and a polk audio 10" 800w dvc with enclousures for free, and the only issue was the surround of the sub was loose from the speaker cone but a bit of superglue sorted that out.
@lennartheske4363

Superglue probably isn't the best glue to fix a surround tho but ok :D 12" 1000W(rms?) and 10" 800(rms?) for free is pretty nice tho. My setup contains two krk rokit 5s and a db es 602 but I paid for them. I can totally agree with your point about a 'cheap' sub can fill a room with bass. I personally think that the price of a sub isn't about the driver's power but more about the case itself, the frequency response, the amp class (most likely d) and the precision of the sub.
@WilliamButcher4455

DasBlau ZuDemKraut yeah, and the wattage unfortunatly is peak but considering I got them for free (the subs were not active) from someone who didnt have a clue at all its prety good, both are in my "pimped" caravan with whaferdale full range speakers in (completly forgot the model but they are not made anymore). the 12" is 300w rms and is in a ported enclosure but the 10" is in an open enclousure as the driver is wall mounted with the outside air being the enclousure leading to an incredible amount of acuracy. But with this video i would NEVER pay 3000 just for a sub whatever precision it is, maybe 3000 for a full setup though

For $3,000, I'd get like 16 Polk PSW505s and place them all around the room... or maybe, all of them over on one wall, facing towards me..... hmmm. For now, my Harmon/Kardon SUB-TS7 will do.

I like how everyone gets so jealous about the 3k sub and post shit like "you could have bought that 18" sub xy that will break your windows" like they never even heard a sub... Btw I am also more into PA stuff but calm the fuck down.
