Shoe goo was the first thing i thought of because i knew it would have to be a flexible hold and adhere to rubber. Rubber cement is meant ro be a temporary hold, and doesn't always last, even if it works at first. Also, the vinyl is called oraCAL. Not oracle. Thanks for taking the time to experiment and share.

I have been looking for a long time on how to convert my alphabet rubber stamps to the cling mount stamps. I looked around in my craft arsenal and I have oracal vinyl and rubber cement. Also, the alphabet letters have just a painted image of the letter on top of the wood, so I will be using the oracal vinyl for each letter. Thank you so much for sharing all of your tips and trials. I have wondered how people do this for quite sometime Also have seen sites that sell rubber stamps that are unmounted and wondered how you are supposed to mount them Many of them are ones I would have liked to have but I was perplexed at how to mount them Obviously there had to be a way So thank you for this video Very helpful
@villagecardandcrafts
Жыл бұрын
You’re very welcome! You can use unmounted stamps by applying a glue like stick & re-stick or Tack it over and over to the back of the rubber. Then you can use a block or stamping platform to do your stamping. If you choose to use them unmounted, then I highly suggest stamping on top of a foam stamping mat or mouse pad to provide cushion. You can reapply those glues as needed. 😊

Great video! Thanks for some great tips. I have started doing this with my wood mounts . Anyway, after i removed them from the wood, didn’t know what to do with them. So I laminated a laminate sheet to itself, then did another on top of it. (It provided good sturdy carrier sheet that way.). It makes a great surface for them to stick to. I separate by themes and place them in bins that hold 8.5 x 11 paper. I place a piece of cheap paper between each laminated carrier so I can see the stamps better and they don’t stick to each other accidentally laying on one another in the bin. It really works well

Hi Wendy tank you for a great video. I am just curious if you tried it without mounting to new foam. Could it be used just like a silicone stamp in a stamping platform with the pad underneath. Also with the ones with the foam still attached if you use a stamping platform , do you remove the mat and use like a rubber stamp or do you keep it in. . I generally use a platform. Thank you for all your help
@villagecardandcrafts
7 ай бұрын
In my experience, removing the foam leaves a bumpy, hard rubber beneath. It doesn’t hold temp adhesive very well either. You could certainly try it to see your results, but for me it just wasn’t an option. If there is foam, you always remove the mat from the stamping platform. Good luck! 😊

Will Gorrilla glue work? Also, will regular foam work that does not have the adhesive? If so, what are any extra steps you need to do for using non-adhesive foam?
@villagecardandcrafts
7 ай бұрын
Hi! I would not recommend Gorilla glue for a few reasons. When I’ve used it, I noticed it expands quite a bit. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t use it as an adhesive to mount the foam to the stamp. Regular foam should work. You would just need adhesive that would mount the foam to the rubber (like E6000) and then a repositionable glue for the top of the foam. I hope that answers your questions.

Hello! Yes I totally understand. I’d try running the whole sheet under hot water first to attempt to loosen it. If that doesn’t work, I’d treat it just like a red stamp. I’d leave it on the acetate and trim as close to the stamp as I could. Then I’d use Stick & Restick on the acetate. Once dry, it will be able to be used on a block or in a platform. Sometimes, the acetate bonds to the stamp permanently. Forcing it may tear the stamp, so I’d use it like an unmounted red rubber stamp. I hope this helps! 😊

I decided some time ago, after removing CLEAR S I L I C O N E stamps from the cover sheets - after which they would stick to NOTHING (!!; not EVEN the sheet they came off of!!) - that I would never again even try to take them off. Instead, I cut the sheet, with the stamp still attached, and, in my case, either use TEMPORARY tape runner on the sheet and then stick the stamp to my Stamperatus to use, OR I use the 6” x 6” silicone “cover sticker (?)” once sold by a company that had the word “Onion” in its name. (In essence, it, too, is just a supersized silicone “stamp”, kinda like “gel plates”.)

My problem is the black foam only partly comes off stamp leaving a very uneven surface. Is this salvageable?
@villagecardandcrafts
Жыл бұрын
Yes it can be salvaged. You will either need to attempt to remove as much of the foam as you can by scrubbing it (it will be formidable) or snipping it carefully. You can use a flat spatula to try to release it as well. Then you will have to replace the foam. If the foam is still pretty thick on the stamp, as mine are, then I chose to use the vinyl over it to create a new surface to cling.

Correction: you said you can use rubber cement. You meant contact cement. I accidentally bought "rubber cement" thinking it was the usual contact cement I usually bought repackaged. I bought it to fix my shoes actually. I went to use it for adhering a magnet to chipboard and it wasn't very sticky and I look closer at the bottle wondering what the heck is wrong with it...its a temp adhesive for photos or papers. Well, at least I found a new crafting tool. You can make your own masks with it and use it for resist techniques. The strength is milder than Tack it Over and Over that you also featured in the video.

@kkrolf2782 no I used Walmarts version. Nothing special. Honestly, it didn’t work well for those that were seriously dried up. I ended up tossing those.
