thanks for this. ive just ordered one of these for a small job so its good to find a video rating it. also nice idea hanging it vertically. i hadnt thought of that and my space is a premium.

Thanks for watching Yes my space is premium as well. The other upside I found to mounting it vertically is if you have a thicker wall material. you can use gravity on your weight to pull down on it versus stretch senior back and other parts trying to pull horizontally.

Great video, as always... the descriptions for these on Amazon always say "tubing pipe bender". Haha. So, is it a true TUBE bender, or a PIPE bender. I need it for 1/2 and 3/4 TUBE.

I believe the one that I have is tubing the dyes are labeled in both inches and millimeters

The diameters given are for tube which are specified by the OD Pipe are usually specified by a nominal ID You can bend either but results may vary based on how well the dies fit

The descriptions on eBay say pipe and tube bender. Pipe and tube have different outside diameters for the same nominal size. 1” tubing has a 1” OD while 1” pipe has a 1” ID. Can someone measure the 1” die to see if it is 1” wide or larger? That’s not to say a pipe die won’t work with 1” tubing. Thanks!!!

Nice review, I wonder if it works with metric sized tubes. 7/8 for example isn't exactly 22 mm, it's 22.225 and it might be bad for the bend which some people are complaining about. Maybe it doesn't matter if the die is slightly bigger than the tube?
@amcustomfab

I think it would work fine with that small difference in size.

I believe the maximum capacity is 25mm (1 inch) at 2mm wall thickness which is what I need to bend. Have you tried this? How did it go?
@amcustomfab

I have done that size with aluminum and it worked well but I have not try ed steel in that size .

It shouldn't be a problem. I've bent steel 22mm x 2mm with a simple copper tube bender tool but it was tough. You can always extend the handle. For me the problem with this tool is that the 22 and 25 mm dies are very large and they should be more than 180 degree in order to bend 180.

Thanks for the demo. What is the outside width of a 180 bend of 1" tubing ? Looking at one of these to bend seat hoops for motorcycle frames. Thanks.

One more question that will help us all, and is not available online.... what is the size of the bolt pattern for mounting (3" x 3"? 4" x 4"? etc.)? I ordered the bender and would like to order steel to make a base while waiting for delivery and the bolt pattern will affect the design and size of material. Thanks!

I have done 120 aluminum but the thickest steel I've done is 0.065 in 1 in but as the diameter goes down it will accommodate a thicker wall like I have done half inch stainless solid stock with it
