I’ve been to Greece years ago with my parents and now taking my hubby and son to show them how beautiful Greece is! Your videos are so helpful! Love your energy! My question is would you recommend getting a cabin on a ferry overnight so to be able to sleep from Athens to Crete or Naxos? Or better to fly? I’m trying to maximize time on islands sightseeing and less time on ferry during the day so we have more time to travel around on the islands. Thanks for your advice!

@StayFabulousTL
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Erin! What a special trip you are planning! Since you are coming for 2 months, I recommend to rent a car in Athens instead of the islands. And then taking it around. The reason for it is because on the islands the prices for cars are much higher due to a short season. In Athens the tourism is year-round, so obviously prices will be much lower. I would do a detailed research for companies that rent camper vans. Read the reviews, etc.

Nice video as always. However I would not advise getting anyone to believe they can go to greece and drive without an international license. Yes greece is full of scenarios where the rules and laws are different from what you actually experience. But for that slim chance they ask you or police stop you, you do want that international license. Its super cheap and you can just get it at the DMV.

We are planning to visit Milos, Paros, and Naxos the last 2 weeks of September - I already bought just basic ferry tickets between the islands - should I try to upgrade them? Also, what seats do you recommend on Blue Star Naxos to get from Naxos to Athens? I was going to fly, but I think I will ferry instead (I do get sea sick which is why I was leaning towards flying). Thanks so much for your channel and all of your helpful information!

Thank you Cadence! For ferry distances over an hour in September, I would still take a ferry ticket with an assigned seat. It doesn't have to be a business class or anything, but an assigned seat will definitely help. You do not want to be stuck on the deck in the heat for five hours. Also, if you haven't yet, here is my Greek ferries guide for this year: kzitem.info/news/bejne/oqWDsZeigYx9nYY Hope you will find it helpful! Happy to answer any other questions you might have.

Hi Marina! If you are renting a car for a month, I recommend to rent it in Athens instead of the islands. And then taking it around (yes, you can easily do it with ferries.) On the islands the prices for cars are much higher due to a short season. In Athens the tourism is year-round, so prices will be much lower. As far as the islands, since you are coming in October prices on the islands will be lower. I personally love Paros but it is becoming more and more touristy with years.

What a great video! A quick question. Would you recommend renting a car on-line before traveling to Crete in late July or "negotiating" in person at the airport rental counters? I'm ok with going to 3 or 4 to get a good deal.
@StayFabulousTL
2 жыл бұрын
I would not negotiate at the airport. They will not give you a discount because most tourists rent through them. The best place to rent a car is at a local car rental place. So find a few online and either call them ahead of time or book a car with a car rental company at the airport for a day and when you get into the city go to one of those places in person and talk to them directly. Hope this helps!

The problem is gas is so damn expensive in Greece, so when you order a certain super economical small car and they give you a much bigger one, you may not be happy. There is a big difference between renting a Toyota Aygo or Smart Car, and getting another larger one that gets much worse mileage!
@StayFabulousTL

I agree with you! But if you find a place that's close to everything and you are on an island, like Paros, you are golden! Now if you are in Rhodes, that's a different story.

Very helpful information ❤️❤️❤️ One question, do you recommend renting car online or on site at the port or airport in Santorini? Thank you in advace!
@StayFabulousTL
3 жыл бұрын
If you have a chance, I would rent a car on site because Greeks still love to do business face-to-face. So, I am sure you would get a better deal that way. One thing I would always recommend is to go to car rentals that are not located in the most popular areas like ports or airports. Usually, those places are always in high demand, so they are less likely to negotiate or give you the best rate. I would go a bit further away from the port or an airport and you will find so many small local car rental places that will be happy to negotiate with you and give you a very good rate. Of course, depends how many days you have, but what I've done in the past (knowing that already) was rented a car online for a day and then as soon as I arrived, I went into a couple of small local rental places away from the main attractions and negotiated an amazing deal😉

No one knows what this September will look like, but it will be different for sure. I will keep updating everyone on the situation in Greece. Is it a good idea to rent a car in Greece for 10 days? What if I wanted to go to all the islands and beaches? Would the car be a hassle?
@StayFabulousTL
3 жыл бұрын
To get the full experience of any island, you will definitely need some form of transportation, especially if you want to see the island and to go to all the beaches. Each island is pretty spread out, so in that case a transportation is a must. I don't know which islands you are trying to visit. For example, if you stay in Paros and want to visit Antiparos, you can go by ferry with your car and in seven minutes you are on another island and you can drive around to all the places. And then go back to Paros.
@marshallislandsg5630

@StayFabulousTL

I mean if you are going on a day trip, no one will tell you anything. You don't have to present any document on a ferry saying that you are allowed to take the car to another island. At least I was never asked for one. But if you are literally moving islands then I see how that can be an issue with the rental company.

7 euro a day ? can you explain me how the guy is making profit ? Knowing that he has to clean the car, bring the car from point a to b , give you a "full" insurance, and paying his employees.The people that rent you for 7 euro's I would not trust them ! If something happens you definitely have top pay something, and trust me it's a lot ! Don't give bad tips to people ! You don't rent cars for 7 euro's , it's so so suspicious! Rent a cars hate also when you bargain too much asking for a 300 euros discount is pretty disrespecful. When we go as greeks in the USA, when we ask for a 300 euro discount people will literally laugh at your face. So it's the same for you going to Greece. Guys Greece is not Africa when you bargain you don't have to cut half the price they will not appreciate it. Be respectful cut off few euro's.
