I haven’t seen a lot but I’m trying to catch up but in terms of the movies I’ve loved so far this year: Across the Spiderverse: No surprised, beautiful animation, hilarious, wonderfully voice acted, used fan service to enhance the story instead of distracting from it (Looking at you Flash.) I can’t wait for Beyond. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3: This is where we disagree on, but I thought it was a near perfect conclusion to the trilogy and I now consider it one of the MCU’s best and definitely on the better side of their recent output. James Gunn, in terms of his superhero content, hasn’t missed for me so far and it’s only other blockbuster this summer aside from Spiderverse that lived up to my expectations so far. Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret?: Relatable, charming, and very endearing. One of the best coming of age movies in years. And only increase my love for Rachel McAdams even more. John Wick Chapter 4: Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning got some big choose to fill to compete with this movie. Keanu Reeves may not be the best at delivering lines, but he makes up for it in the action sequences. Masterclass in stunt work. Air: The ultimate dad movie, and I mean that in a good way. At least Ben Affleck has one great movie this year. 😂

I really feel Dan on those feelings about "Suzume" and how a film always deserves some extra props on a personal level when it can get you invested and on board with an idea like the budding relationship between a girl and a chair traveling across the country like that. It's on the same level of "Did Guardians of The Galaxy actually get me emotional over a talking raccoon and a tree that only knows 3 words?" It is always great when a film can surprise you like that, and that's why I still like getting excited for something that catches my eye.

I think the film I am most looking forward to seeing Dune: Part Two. When the film came out in the cinema, I went to a very reputable independent cinema in London to watch the film and I came out massively disappointed, because everything was just off. The film uses a shallow depth of field and the image was just never sharp (I presume, they didn't get the focus the projector correctly). Also, the sound was pretty ropey, with far too much sound being behind me in the cinema. Since then, I have watched the film at home and it was such an improved experience. I still have a couple of issue, with the story telling but I am hoping the second film really finishes off the story well.
